TYC 621980 Cooling Fan Assembly Compatible with 2002-2003 Mini Mini Cooper, Black

My car’s high speed fan would not stop after parking and drained my battery. Bought the TYC fan to replace. Easy install into a 2002 MCS. Found instructions on the mini forums. Didnt have to remove radiator. After install, be sure to check the fuses in fuse box and test by turning on AC to start the low speed fan. Now the fan works at both low and high speeds and shuts off. Been about 4 months and no issues.

this TYC fan worked perfectly on my 2002 Mini Cooper R50. this has the 2 electrical connectors. My previous fan was malfunctioning and drawing excessive current. Just swapped this in. The fan speed varies smoothly, and noticeably quieter. Steady temperature with A/C on full. Didn't have to do anything with the car's computer either.

Works well correct connectors including mounting tabs. I purchased another brand that lasted 6 months. The TYC seems well built and as I noted has exactly the right connectors

This replacement took about 1.5 hrs. It has 2 connectors on it (02-03 style I believe) Now my low speed and high speed fan work great, no more worrying about overheating

Installation on my 2002 Cooper was easier than I thought it would be. The assembly was a direct fit and powers on as it should. I will update my review as the mileage on this unit increases. Straight out of the box though, I am happy with the build quality. Make sure you buy the correct part for your Mini. Early models have this two connector style plug. Check if you have one or two connectors.

Save yourself some serious cash by purchasing this and installing it yourself. The install is really, really easy (search youtube). I put it in over 6 months ago and its still doing just fine. (Dealer quote for replacement was over $350.)
