Great Battery!
Good strong battery that provides power after two months of sitting (even without a trickle charger). I wouldn’t go more than two months without recharging, but we’ve used it for a year. It powers the Christmas lights on our golf cart for a few weeks and then runs the frozen drink blender on the golf cart the remainder of the year. 😜

I'm happy with this battery
Overall, I'm happy with this battery. However, know a few things before committing..... 1) This battery is very heavy. 2) It must be recharged with a AGM battery capable charging unit. 3) Like any battery, it must be recharged immediately after use. 4) This is a significant investment, and if used regularly, because it is what it is as a battery, and will be used over and over again, its not going to last a heck of a lot longer than a Diehard, Delco, or brand suited for marine use. Battery life comes down to discharging and recharging, which after each use, reduces its life incrementally. The only way to lengthen life, is if the boat engine has an onboard generator circuit, to keep the battery from being drained down too far. One day I tried using it on Merrill Creek Reservoir, in northern NJ, which only allows electric outboards. The distances from the launch ramp to prime fishing spots can be a mile, and you can certainly put on a couple miles trolling. If there's wind, which is often, battery drain increases. I thought this Optima would last all day, but it didn't; rather, it provided about the same total output over the several hours of near continuous use that I got from my previous deep cycle battery when it was new (which incidentally, I bought from Walmart). Having said all this, I still like the battery. I like its method of circular plate windings, giving much more surface area, and more consistent plate separation, reducing the possibility of eventual plate shorting. That can kill a battery long before its expected life, at no fault to the owner. This unit is very well constructed, has double posts, is 100% sealed, and fits nicely in a carrying case. Its easy to clean as well. I would recommend it, but also recommend you own a top notch recharger and use it judiciously to keep the battery charged. And when your boat is winterized for the off season, take the battery out and store it somewhere relatively warm, with the battery charger nearby to give it a trickle update charge every month. After 2 months of non-use, mine came back to 100% in less than an hour set at the lowest charge setting. So far, so good. But now I know that if I go camping for a week, I still need a way to recharge the battery part way thru my time away from home and an electric outlet. Even if I have to pull it out of the boat and walk it up to my car, and hook up the jumper cables for an hour while the car is at idle...... anything to avoid discharging to low levels and having no way of recharging it right away.

Bad battery after 3 months. Bought this battery in September 2025 as a starting for my boat with a 225 hp Mercury , about three wks ago won't start the motor by it self had too uses battery 2 to assist it. Battery 2 would start it by itself. CHECK BATTERY AFTER A FULL CHARGE AN TESTER SAID REPLACE. Will contact Opitmax CS warranty and report back. UPDATE Optima is going to replace the bad battery. Processe is slow. Submitted warranty request 1/10/2026 and received approval 1/30/2026, battery will be shipped.
