Hi, this is lcd glass panel only ,it will fit for MacBook Pro 15" Unibody A1286 (Late 2008-Mid 2012) ,not work for late 2013 15" Macbook Pro a1398 display

Does this come with a protective film on both sides to prevent damage while shipping and installing?

Yes, but damage can still happen during shipping, as it is glass. Fortunately, the company was good about sending another glass right when the first was broken by shipper (abused package)
