Perfect Mid-Sized WorkhorseโThe Boos Quality Without the Bulk
I finally upgraded my old bamboo board to this Boos Chop-N-Slice maple block, and I couldn't be happier. I wanted the famous Boos quality, but the massive 2-inch blocks were just too big and heavy for my smaller apartment kitchen. This 18" x 12" x 1.25" model is the perfect compromise. Why This Board is a Winner: * Ideal Size and Weight: At 18"x12", itโs large enough to handle chopping a pile of vegetables or prepping a whole chicken, but still small enough to fit easily in my sink for cleaning and to store upright in a cabinet. At around 8 lbs, it has enough heft to stay put on the counter without sliding around, which was my biggest frustration with lighter boards. * The Butcher Block Quality: It has that beautiful, solid maple grain that Boos is known for. The 1.25" thickness feels substantial and professional. Itโs reversible, which is greatโI use one side strictly for produce and the other for raw meats. * Easy on Knives: My chef's knife feels fantastic on this surface. Unlike glass or plastic boards, the maple is forgiving, helping my edges stay sharp longer. The cuts close up nicely, too. * Eased Corners: It's a small detail, but the slightly rounded corners make it comfortable to lift and move without sharp edges digging into your hands. The Reality of Wood Care: * You MUST Condition It: This is the trade-off for having a quality wooden board. If you buy this and don't buy the Boos Oil/Cream, youโre doing it wrong. I oiled it three times right out of the box until it stopped absorbing the oil, and now I hit it with the cream every 3-4 weeks. This keeps it from drying out and cracking. It takes five minutes, and it's essential. * Handwash Immediately: No dishwasher, no soaking. Wipe it down right after use, rinse quickly, and dry it standing up. It's a habit you need to adopt for any good wooden board. Summary: If you love to cook but don't want a massive, 20-pound centerpiece butcher block, this Chop-N-Slice model is the perfect choice. It delivers the professional feel, stability, and knife-care benefits of a Boos Block in a practical, everyday size. Worth every penny for a piece that will last a lifetime!

Functional cutting board
Great quality, heavy chopping board for your wannabe chef friends! Do NOT dish wash this, for the love of god. One time wonโt hurt it much but before you know it the thing is cracked and warped like you wouldnโt believe. Take the time to wash it by hand. Otherwise, itโs a straightforward board. The thing doesnโt chop food for you so Iโm not sure what else I can review on it. Itโs functional

Grateful
Absolutely fantastic product. I feel the quality when I use this USA made cutting board and that quality helps me prep for the perfect meal every time. This is the best cutting board I have ever owned. This wood does not damage the cutting edge of my knives, is easy to clean, and very sanitary. No microplastics here, all natural! By far one of my best purchases this year, because I just want to use the board every opportunity I get which means eating healthy and saving money from eating out. Plus, Iโve become a way better cook since owning this board due to the extra time I spent cooking! One thing I will say is that you need to oil this board regularly. The ownerโs manual says to oil every month, but sometimes you need to do it maybe every three to four weeks depending on how much you use it. If it feels a tad dry, just quickly slap a little even coat on that baby and rub it in. If you properly maintain, this cutting board is built to last and will be the last one youโll need.

First time I bought and it warped, shame on me. Second time can't fool me again.
I have bought two of these cutting boards because I have heard they are the best, longest lasting. Food safety matters to me and I try to limit how much plastic I have in my kitchen. The first cutting board, $80, warped terribly over the course of a few months. I thought this was from my own neglect so I reread the care instructions and bought a new one. I bought the new one and followed the care instructions exactly even paying for the Boos branded wood oil and cream. This second board has warped in one month of having it and following the instructions. I have spent $200 now on two useless cutting boards and I'm sure I could have spent less than half of that on a different brand and still accomplished my task of keeping a plastic free kitchen. The paid promotions/influencers who use Boos are just that--getting paid to promote. As a regular person, I do NOT recommend.

Nice quality board.
I tried a couple of cheaper ones and was not happy. This one works very well.

Goes Easy on Knives
3 weeks in: My nice kitchen knife was getting dull after just a couple slices on a glass cutting board, but it stays sharp all night with this wooden one. Very happy with purchase so far. As other reviews have mentioned, you'll want to take a soft-grit sandpaper to the board to smooth out the rough surfaces. Curing: The product description says this comes pre-cured. If that's true, I'd hate to see what it was like before they cured it! The board arrived bone-dry, like it'd been sitting in the desert sun for a century. It was very lightweight and hollow sounding. I bought a third-party mineral oil and began treatment in earnest. Boos instructions say "don't over-oil your board" but every other article I can find online says there's no such thing. So I soaked both sides of the board in mineral oil and left it for several hours. Then I did it again, and again, and again. Over the course of two days I was able to soak the board four or five times before it stopped soaking up oil. I then wiped off the excess and sealed the board with Boos wax. I wanted to use a less expensive, thicker, third-party brand of wax, but my order kept not arriving/getting cancelled, so I broke down and used Boos' brand. I left the board overnight again, and have been using it since. Maintenance: After use, I wash the board with soap & water, and a stiff brush. Then I dry with a towel and let air-dry overnight. I've had the board for three weeks now, and have just done my first "monthly" maintenance. I dumped a bunch of salt on the board and rubbed it in with half a lemon. Then I used a stiff brush to rub the salt and lemon juice in further, then washed with soap and water. Once dry, I will add Boos wax to seal. Next time I'll probably have to do another round of mineral oil first, but the board is still good to go for now. Durability: So far, so good. This is hand-washed in cool water only. I will update my review if I see the cracking that others have posted about. It may be a product defect.. OTOH the boards just may need far more curing than Boos' instructions indicate. Edit: After several months, the cutting board starting smelling really bad. I ALWAYS wash it with hot water and soap, and a stiff brush. I was also regularly (once every 1-2 months) scrubbing it with salt and lemon, and re-applying the oil and wax. However, the cutting board continued to get more and more rancid smelling. But how to clean it? I was afraid of putting it in boiling water, as leaving WOOD in water for a long time is not a great idea. I also wasn't sure how I could keep a big pan of water boiling for long enough to really clean the cutting board. My baking sheets are too shallow, and not meant for stovetop. But then I remembered that STEAM is hotter than boiling water! So I put a really big pot of water on the stove to boil, and then placed the cutting board on top to steam. NOTE!! You need to leave a good inch or more open.. never close a heated system, and never heat a closed system! I placed the cutting board off-center so there was an inch-wide gap along one side of the pot. Then I kept coming back every 5 minutes to grab the board and wipe off the liquid and foam that kept bubbling out. I also kept moving the board around so each quadrant was getting time over the steam. It took a lot of attention over the course of about an hour (I kept having to add more water back into the pot)... but finally the board was back to smelling like WOOD! So I let it dry out for two days, and have just oiled & waxed it again. So if your board is starting to stink & you're not sure what to do, try steam! (But be careful!!)

May warp on you but it's nice otherwise
Nice, thick cutting board. Followed all directions. Oiled and waxed it thoroughly. Did not submerge, washed and dried vertically but it still warped and makes cutting annoying as it rocks as I'm cutting.

Great q6
2nd one I have bought, medium size . Boos boards are excellent quality and will last for decades if you oil and cream them. Can be sanded when wear is excessive.

Wood broken
Been using it for 1 week and cleaning it only with cold water and the wood started to crack in 7 points. Wanted to share the pictures but don't have the option on my phone.
