Looking for a pen that doesn't smear** A: Absolutely!!!I have been using Kyocera ceramic ball ink pens for about 10 years and highly recommend them.The ceramic ball allows for use of water based ink which dries rapidly and makes smearing virtually "a thing of the past". The ink also sets deeper into the paper than oil based inks and this, I believe, gives a more vibrant appearance and definitely helps prevent fading.I like these pens so much that, for Christmas last year, I gave 6 of them to members of "that side" of my family. This year, I am giving 6 of them to members of "this side" of my family.These are not Mont Blanc, or even Waterman, writing instruments but they are very good pens.The only drawback is that the ceramic ball can be chipped or damaged easily if dropped onto a hard surface. I usually try to have a few layers of paper or a soft surface under the paper that I am writing on (I use mine almost exclusively for with my check books).I believe that, for a left handed person, this is the ideal ink pen. There are several styles available and should be at least one that appeals to you and is within an acceptable price. (Note: Refills can be a little bit pricey, about $6 the last time that I purchased some, and may be available from limited sources.) **Q: My pen doesn’t have a hole on either side for the ink to come from?! Is there something I’m missing?** A: Doesn't have a hole on either side of what? The pen uses an ink cartridge that is screwed into it and this cartridge contains the ink. The ink flows from the tip of the cartridge through a ceramic ball, i.e., the ink cartridge utilizes a ball point similar to any other ball point pen but the cartridge'sball is ceramic which allows for the use of water based inks. Metal balls could rust using water based ink so they use an oil based ink.
