Works good
Works good but understanding the direction is confusing. I went to you tube and watched video. Great value for money.

Works Fine But Beware of Instructions.
The instructions are pretty tiny, a bit confusing & they're completely wrong. I was installing on a toy box with overlay lid & butt hinges so I used the specific instructions for that condition. I can't comment on the instructions for other conditions but for this one they are incorrect. I installed both the mounting plate to the end wall of the box & the arm fixing plate to the lid exactly to the dimensions noted, they were dead on spec. When I installed the stay, the lid closed slowly until the last 5" & then slammed shut. It got to the 5" point & just fell the last bit so it wasn't as violent as if it fell the entire way but still very loud & still would hurt a child's fingers. In addition the lid was only held open about 87 degrees & not close to the 105 degrees stated. After watching some YouTube videos of these being installed, I could see their mounting plate was noticeably closer to the back wall of the toy box. I double checked mine & it was exactly 5 5/16" from center of the butt hinge to the center of the mounting plate.Only after multiple trials of relocating the mounting plate could I get the lid stay to control the motion all the way down & close softly as intended. By the time I got it working properly I'd moved the mounting plate 1 1/2" closer to the back of the box & about 3/4" lower. That's not even close to the dimensions called for on the instructions. Plus now the end panel of the box looks like an angry woodpecker attacked it.My 16" height lid weighs about 6.8 pounds & per the instructions a single stay should handle lids from 4.4 to 7.5 pounds & mine is within that range, so it's not an overweight issue.I don't see how it's possible for the manufacturer to not know the correct positioning & to not have corrected the instructions by now. As I was trying various locations it seems the slightest move makes a huge difference. I had it working pretty well but not yet perfect so I moved it just an 1/8" & the function got dramatically worse so it's absolutely critical that the instructions be correct. I'm not sure if I have it in the ultimate position, it may work slightly better if I moved it a bit more but it works acceptably now so I didn't want to put any more holes in my box.In the YouTube comments people noted the exact same 5" slamming issue & another person noted he had to move the mounting plate back from where the instructions said so this appears to be an ongoing problem that has not been corrected by the manufacturer.

Not the easiest to install
These work well once you finally get them installed. Only needed one for a very light 18"x30" pine toybox lid. Installation was complicated with a lot of metric measurements that required conversion. I initially used online conversion tools, but decided to go with digital calipers set to metric. An accurate metric ruler would be easiest My installation was more complicated because they were attaching to 3/4" thick strongbacks, to keep the lid from warping too much, so had to adjust the dimensions accordingly. The rod end dimension proved to be critical. I was 1/4" too short and the stay hit itself before fully closing. Fortunately, the rod bracket covered the incorrect holes. Lesson learned: I made a jig to hold the lid at 105 degrees and then measured everything. It turned out that the measurements were more important than the degrees of lid opening, which ended up about 102 degrees. This worked for my needs. The lid kind of locks in position when fully open. Once it is pulled below 90 degrees it slowly closes all the way down, as expected. Overall, I am happy with the product.

Good product- poor instructions
The instructions are really poorly written but otherwise they work as advertised. There are some people with YouTube videos of how to put them on properly.

Instructions are worthless
I bought this soft close lid support for a toy box I built for a granddaughter. It's a nice piece of hardware but the instructions are absolutely worthless. I'm a retired professional cabinet maker with several decades of experience and even I had trouble with it. The dimensions listed in the instructions would not work for my application. I ended up building a little mockup of the lid and case and experimenting to find out where it needed to be mounted.

Great to protect little ones hands and fingers!
I absolutely love these soft close hinges! They were easy to install and you can install them with 2 different style options, as a lid stay type or soft close, the lid stay option can hold the lid open for you when you lift all the way open or the soft close option, when you close the lid it doesn't slam down hard on any little fingers, which is the way I installed mine, the pictures above shows both style options. My daughter can now open the toy box I built for her and not be afraid it will come down and hit her hands or fingers. You need to make sure you install them with precise measurements. Depending on the weight of the lid you are installing them for determines how many hinges you need mine only needed one but I still used both, mostly because I felt it was safer and looked better. I recommend these hinges for any toy box lid, trunk lid, upward lifting lid they are sturdy, durable, and long lasting! My 5 year old daughter has been using them on her toy box for over a year now with no problems.

Only for very heavy lids or horizontal cabinet type doors
This product appears to be very good at what it is designed for however, it only useable on heavy horizontally mounted cabinet type doors or heavy top closures. It is not adjustable in strength and light weight doors do not work at all.
