Instructions not great but it's good once you get it working
This is a good device, it's easy to attach to the bike and very simple to use. The manual seems to expect you to already know what you're doing so personally I'd search the web for some help setting up. I did, and I'm fine. It does work with the phone app but for best results you should definitely interface it directly with your Garmin device - ie smart watch. I have a Vivoactive 3 and it's a great companion to give me speed monitoring when I'm using my bike trainer indoors. Remember that it takes 2 rotations to switch on. So when training, jump on your trainer, do a few pedal strokes and stop... then set your watch running.

Easy to connect
Easy to connect to garmin 520 computer. Sensor records even if you don’t connect to computer - so means you can record to garmin connect or Strava.

Good value speed measure with Garmin integration!
Good bit of kit, allows connectivity to the Garmin platform and captures speed and effort metrics. So far so good, but sometimes takes a little while to connect and upload. Pleased with it considering the price!

Easy to pair with compatible Garmin watch
Paired easily with my Forerunner 35 watch (Settings/Sensors) after a few turns of the wheel. Didn't see a flashing LED as the manual suggested I would. No need to measure tyre circumference as apparently the wheel size is automatically calibrated on compatible Garmin devices. Tested it on a turbo trainer by setting the watch to 'Bike' with indoors chosen and worked a treat. Only two rides so far but impressed with the simplicity.

Does not pair with Garmin Connect
I've had this for over a year now, and despite repeated attempts and every possible flavour of 'fix' and reset, it simply will not pair with Garmin Connect. This is not a bluetooth issue - it pairs to the phone, and it is recognised as a bluetooth sensor in other apps (e.g. Wahoo), and it pairs with Garmin edge via ANT and BT - it just will not pair / be recognised through the Garmin Connect app. This is important, as (a) the speed output for phone apps seems to be delivered via Connect (so the wahoo app recognises and pairs with the sensor, and info on firmware / serial no is available, but no speed readings are received) and (b) the additional functionality of this speed sensor over, say, a Wahoo one, is not available - specifically (and the reason I bought this) the 'always on' odometer function that records the mileage of the unit, irrespective of whether a reading device (edge, app, etc) is connected. So therefore if you want to just use this with an Edge to show speed, it's fine for that one task - although cheaper sensors are available that will do exactly the same thing. If you want any of the additional functionality advertised - don't bother. NB - Garmin have washed their hands of this, and will provide no assistance nor offer refunds despite repeated contact with the helpline, so caveat emptor.

Works great. Long battery life. Hugs center wheel axle well. Only weird issue is configuring it from my watch looks different than configuring it from app - meaning the wheel size. After reaching out to Garmin, I did a wheel out measurement and inputted that into my watch.
