Well worth the cost! Happily surprised.
I am an experienced crocheter, and quite honestly, I bought this crochet set because I loved the case. However, there are so many useful items included! CASE: The materials and zippers are of good quality and work well and easily. I love the individual slots for crochet needles. It is the perfect balance of roomy yet compact size. HOOKS: The built-up handle hooks and the standard hooks are fine for beginning/ intermediate crocheters and come in a large variety of sizes. The quality of these hooks is actually pretty good, better than many of the most popular sets sold on Amazon. (I personally put in my old favorite hooks and will use the ones that came with the set as giveaways when I teach newbies to crochet.) ACCESSORIES: There's a huge variety of both crocheting and knitting accessories, some of very good quality and some marginal but still very useful.

Great full kit for a beginner!
I’m super new to crochet. I purchased this kit just to have the basic tools needed to work on a project. It includes so many things including hooks, stitch markers, measuring tape, darning needles etc. It’s compact & portable. Not too bulky & seems to be decently made. I purchased this kit over all the others because it has a small zipper pouch inside to hold all my stitch markers. Super happy with this purchase! I take it everywhere I go! It comes with everything included in the description. There are extra items from another kit I’ve thrown into my bag as well. So, if you see extra items in my photos, that is why. But this kit includes everything you need yet still has room to grow & add additional tools you collect along the way. I haven’t tried the hooks because I use my Clover Amour hooks & I just cannot bring myself to use anything else! But they seem to be similar to the Boye brand hooks I’ve purchased from Walmart.

Great quality and value for the price
Nice quality hooks and accessories, and it comes with a ton of stuff! I like having all types of hook sizes so I can just buy whatever yarn I want without wondering if I have the right hook size. This is a really great deal and the case is cute.

Great complete hook set
Great complete set, good for starting or re-starting crochet. There are some things in the kit that I don’t know what they are for, but I’m sure they all have a function. Lots of variety!

It started out needing just one hook…
So, I’m more of a knitter vs crocheter but I do both. My current setup for needle/hook storage is far from great. I went to begin some projects and I found for every project didn’t have the right hook. So I finally just said “F it!” And bought a kit. I wanted this for what came with it and also to store what hooks I already have. I wanted “a place for everything and everything in its places.” Vs just a pencil bag. So I picked a less expensive kit with an “okay” case and gave it a shot. So this whole thing started with needing an H hook, which I didn’t have, then an E hook. Of course, ones I didn’t have, however I learned I apparently have an addiction to G hooks as I have 4 of them for some reason. So I got this kit to hopefully stop having issues of “WTH is my hook?!” as now I’d have a central storage location. It fits the bill of what I need, it came with the H and E hooks I needed. It has all the sizes I would need for what i do. I can see this as a good starter’s kit for anyone before really diving in with brand name hooks, inline (my preference) vs tapered (what these are), etc. Some of the stitch markers are flimsy HOWEVER they were just an added bonus always as I typically have used bobby-pins as markers. I take care of my things, so it can see this lasting a good while for me. I don’t crochet everyday but I have been using it every day since I got it (upcoming requested holiday gifts), and it’s holding up well. I did see there is a loose thread in the case that MAY be a problem in the future, however I’m not too concerned about it at this time.

Great Case - everything you need
THE CASE (5/5 stars) is fantastic and well organized, with pockets for everything and room for a little extra. Mine came with an adorable cat print, and the canvas like cover seems very water proof. The sewing appears sturdy with no missed stitching or broken zippers. All of the zippers unzip and re-zip very easily. I've been using it only a few weeks but so far, its holding up well. I love that all the items have their own compartment so it's easy to find and access everything, yet the case is very compact when all zipped up. The inner net pocket, zippered cloth pocket, and elastic tool holders are all sewed well and do not look like they will come un-stitched any time soon. This case is designed so well that some people might want the kit just for the case. THE CROCHET HOOKS (5/5 stars) also work great. There are two sets of hooks included - one is the classic all-aluminum hook like I grew up with, and the other has a fat rubbery handle over the metal hook shaft. I did notice that the fat handled set shows a very slight molding seam on the inside of the hook, but I rubbed some yarn across all of them and it slipped across without catching on the yarn so I don't think it matters. They are perfectly smooth otherwise. I admit I have only crocheted with the aluminum set because it's what I'm used to. Both sets have nice deep hooks but I prefer the aluminum set because the head shape seems slightly less rounded and more oblong and classic in shape, so it does a better job of holding off the loops you already pulled through. I will probably only use the fat handled ones when I crochet with jewelry wire so I don't scratch up the all-aluminum hooks. HOOK SIZES of the 2 sets overlap - the fat handled sizes are 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5... up to 6.0 mm. The all-aluminum set includes all those sizes, plus adds sizes 6.5, 7.0, and 8.0 mm. The sizes are embossed on both sets. The rubber handled set also has the sizes printed in black on the front of the handle, but the printing is not permanent and rubs off when you handle it so you will have to rely on the embossing on the back of each handle, which is harder to read. OTHER TOOLS IN THE KIT: A lot of the stuff in this kit is actually made for knitting or sewing. I'll review each item and describe what it's used for since the kit does not include instructions. MINI TAPE MEASURE: 5/5 stars - 60 inch (150 cm), self-winding mini tape measure that has inches on one side and metric on the other. The tape is extra narrow to keep it compact but is still easy to read. Best peripheral in the kit. GUAGE RULER: (4/5 stars) - used for figuring out the guage of your crochet stitch with the yarn you are using. When working with a published crochet pattern, you need to figure out the size of your crochet stitch because the pattern may need to be adjusted if your stitch is larger or smaller than expected. You usually crochet a sample square first and count how many stitches across and how many rows up you used to fill a 4x4 inch square. The 5.5 inch (14 cm) acrylic ruler in this kit is useful for measuring your square. The ruler also has holes in it that (I assume) are for measuring the guage size of your yarn, or possibly for findhing the guage size of a knitting needle. The ruler includes both inches and metric numbering. This opaque acrylic ruler is very easy to read and is a handy size. I would have given it 5 stars if it had been made from transparent acrylic so you could see your stitches through it, but it might have been harder to read then. LARGE TAPESTRY NEEDLES: 4/5 stars - useful in crochet for weaving your yarn tales back into your work to hide the ends. All are straight and blunt/round tipped with large eyes. There are 6 plastic needles (3 large and 3 extra large) for yarn and also some smaller metal needles for smaller guage string or floss. None are as good as bent steel tapestry needles but these do just fine. NEEDLE THREADERS: 2/5 stars - little wire tool used for threading needles in sewing. It has very little use in crochet. The eyes of the needles in this kit are large enough that you shouldn't need threaders. Plus, these threaders look extra flimsy and I doubt they would hold up with yarn. SEAM RIPPER: 3/5 stars - used to rip out thread stitches when sewing, but would have no use in crochet or knitting, which is why this only gets 3 stars. It performs just fine with sewing thread but isn't sharp enough to cut through yarn. YARN CLIPPERS: 1/5 stars - used for cutting yarn, something you won't need to do very often with crochet, which is a good thing because these clippers barely cut and leave the end frayed. They are almost worthless. Also, the plastic lid that covers the blades keeps coming off, so I took mine out of the kit so they wouldn't damage the the case. I intend to get some mini folding scissors ($11 for a set of 3 on Amazon - get the kind that look like eyeglasses when folded up, which are small enough to fit in the same slot as the crappy clippers). STITCH MARKERS: 4/5 stars - used mostly in knitting for creating a marker when you need to count stitches or mark a specific stitch. These little plastic rings can be fitted through a stitch loop and then closed. There is one style that closes like a safety pin, and another more rubbery ring shaped marker that has a tiny peg and hole system for closing. I've never used them for crochet, but they will probably be useful if I make a more advanced crochet project like a sweater. They could also be used to hold the last loop in an unfinished project that you want to tote or store. I reccommend putting your markers in a mini ziplock craft bag because they tend to get tangled in the netting of the big pocket otherwise. ROW COUNTERS: 2/5 stars - in knitting, a counter is used for keeping track of the number of rows knitted, but I haven't seen these used for crochet. Kit includes a red counter and a blue one. Unlike fancier counters, these don't have buttons that allow you to add to your tally with just a finger click. Instead, there are two dials for changing the number that appears in the window, and it takes both hands to do it. They are easy to read and compact, but it seems like it would be annoying to have to put down your work to change the tally. STITCH HOLDERS - 3/5 stars - used in knitting (not crochet) to hold a row of open loops when you want to leave a gap or hole in the middle of your knitting piece, such as when creating a neckline in a sweater. The tool holds a span of loops running the length of the gap area so they don't come unraveled while you are knitting the rest of the piece. Crochet works differently and does not require such a tool, which is why this only gets 3 stars. If you are a knitter, these two stitch holders are good quality aluminum and will hold a 3 inch or 4 inch row of stitches (roughly 7 cm and 10.25 cm of usable length). CABLE NEEDLES - 3/5 stars - used for doing a cable knit in knitting, and totally useless for crochet. The three in this kit range from 3 3/4 to 4 1/4 inches long (about 9 to 10.5 cm), and look like sticks of plastic with a couple of bends in them and slightly tapered ends. KNITTING STOPPERS - 3/5 stars - little rubber cone-shaped caps that fit over the pointy end of a knitting needle (they are not useful for crochet). With knitting, you leave the two knitting needles in your unfinished work because it will unravel if you remove the needles. When you aren't working on the project, these little rubber caps can be used to stop the needles from sliding out of the row of loops. The kit includes 2 small caps and 2 larger ones, and both look like they will fit a range of different knitting needle sizes. FINAL NOTE: Despite the many knitting tools included in this crochet kit, my final assessment is that I love the case that this kit comes with because it fits a lot in such a tiny space and everything is so easy to access. I don't plan on removing the knitting dodads because they don't take up much space, and if I get into knitting in the future, this little pouch will be even more handy.
