I've had it 4 a year now. As I understand most do not come with the padded hand grips...I find this is NeCeSSaRy! It's durable and well built and another bonus... even made in the USA. Much nicer than others I've used and a bargain at the price. The only thing is mine is Gold VS the silver pictured *which I'd rather have had... but obviously we care about function 1st, aesthetics 2nd.Update - July 30, 2016: 5 years later & it's still going strong! I can't imagine using 1 without the built in grip padding! Now over the years i have used others, including a niiiiiiiiice carbon fiber paddle which was super duper light and certainly increased speed (but expensive- VERY and delicate 2 take care of). So yes, this is far heavier but as part of the reason I kayak is wanting exercise, I think this is a great thing. Again it's super sturdy. After all this time & much use only the rubber rings have slight wear from pressure of having the boat atop it during transport. The paddles with all plastic have broken on me and the take apart plastic ones break quick and easy, always at the connectors which is y i love this one so much, no chance of that!Only drawback I can find is that I never take it apart...but when I have tried 2, I really haven't been able 2, seems 2 b locked in place after I push the button down. which 4 me is actually ok since I don't really need 2 break it down. I have never had the button accidentally stay down like another reviewer mentioned so I think their may b defective.4 sure, I'd purchase this 1 again in a heartbeat! I really hope this helps u! Made in the USA paddle with an aluminium shaft and the paddle shape I prefer it could have gotten 5 stars if the shaft wasn't so heavyv and the circumference so much more than a regular paddle. Perhaps a strong man with large hands works have been able to use this? ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ good enough for the ladies i go with *by R***L on Reviewed in the United States on August 25, 2010* I really have no complaints about this paddle. It has an adjustable lock in the middle that changes the angle of the paddle fins and drip deflectors, though I imagine that is standard in most two-piece paddles. My favorite thing is that it's matchingly portable with my inflatible kayak.
