Digital Thermometer with Probe and Timer for BBQ and Roasting - Black

I bought this unit earlier in the summer for a high-temperature continuous check of my smoker grate. It has worked extremely well. The probe is small and only required a 5/32" hole in the lid. The unit is accurate being within a degree or two of my Maverick 33 and Onida digital probes. The unit is a little light, and probably not water proof, but I take care of them. The display will disappear in bright sunlight or from the smoker if the unit gets too hot. The display returns when I put it in the shade or hang it up away from my smoker. The other digital thermometers do the same. All in all, I am satisfied with this unit and expect to buy more.

Do not buy. Highly inaccurate. I'm returning. I have videos showing the temp bounce from 404 degrees to 420 degrees in a 2.5 minute time span, after the probe had been in a 425 degree oven for over 10 minutes. I can't post the video from my phone, do I'll have to do it when I get to my computer. Update: it won't let me post a video from my computer, either...

Used the thermometer with my Traeger smoker yesterday and smoked a 7 # pork shoulder for9 hours. It was great not having to open the lid and use the quick read thermometer and let all the hot air out. We could easily adjust the temperature know what the internal temperature of the meat was all times. Set the alarm for 165 degees to wrap it in foil and the set for 190 degrees when done. It was the best roast yet. The display is easy to read and it has a stand to read from a distance. The cable was plenty long. I would recommend this thermometer.

Works well electronically but lacks some simple features: there's no on/off button, but only uses a single AAA battery. So, you either have to replace the battery often or disengage the battery when not in use (what I do). Has an alert for reaching a temperature from below, but not from above (cooling). That would be very useful too. Rear panel button to open the back is very hard to operate. Pull out "stand" does not work.

This thermometer works as advertised but is not very durable and tends to overestimate temperatures. The temperature issue is a function of the probe that is longer than some cuts of meat and is overly influenced by the top elbow portion, leading to the item reflecting a higher temperature than the meat would read with a dedicated meat thermometer. This is fairly easy to work around, just add several degrees to your target temperature and you are good to go. The real problem with this product is durability. I was using it on my smoker and flash thunderstorm passed over with a few minutes of heavy rain. In just that time, the thermometer shorted out and will never work again. Any environment with a smoker or even an oven will be full of water hazards, so the fact this item fails the second water comes around means it is poor quality and not suitable for further use. I will not be buying from this company again.

Update: Seems to work in the oven but not in the grill I just received this thermometer and tried to cook a steak -- as soon as I inserted the probe, the temperature began bouncing all over the place -- up to 400 degrees and down to 60 degrees. Would not give a reliable temperature and ultimately led to a poorly cooked meal. I suspect this is a defective unit. I like a lot of the features but cannot give more than one star to a product that doesn't work out of the box. I see other have experienced this problem as well.

We received our Frazoni Digital Thermometer with Probe very quickly. I was to use the probe in a hot oil skillet for deep frying fresh fish. I was able to have it set up and working at the time it was really needed. The extension probe is very handy for continuous remote sensing . It works great in the outdoors grill and indoors ovens. Very nice readouts for the temp, clock and alarm setting

So I got this thermometer & was excited to use it with my new smoker. Pretty simple to use, put a AAA battery in and go. I couldnt get the thing to give me a temp. Called Frazoni, lady was nice, said she never heard of that. I ordered a second one, same thing. Tried the two probes in both thermometers & all I got was a LLL or HHH reading but no temp. Borrowed a buddies Maverick probe & guess what, yep, working like a champ. Never used water near the probe or kinked the line so they both came with defective probes
