Has anyone experienced a sour, acerbic quality to the liquid recently ? In past few months I find the liquid is almost painful on the tongue.

I preferred the sweet version too, but I found this is just as easy, good and effective.  First I have to say you are supposed to put UNDER your tongue, not on it ....  that being said I now just put my 10 drops in about 1-2 ounces of water, swirl and drink (there is no taste), then add a bit more water to the shot glass and drink (then you get the hint of cherry flavor and it is actually good.  I enjoy that little hint of cherry and that way you get every drop of it.

Just go to Cell Food's website -- it's a very reputable company:  http://www.cellfood.com/same.htm gives you the ingredients list at the bottom.  Most vets *assume* that ALL human SAM-e is formulated to be enteric (so it digests in the small intestine and dogs can't do that well).  This is a liquid so it works well, and it has the added benefit of the CellFood supplement as well.  That link should be what you need.  But it's plainly found on their website (as are the others for all their products).

How many drops to get 400 mg?

Not sure about mg, but I was giving 8 drops a day to my 11 lb Maltese. This really worked well for his liver.
