What gauge is the screen?

I don't know the actual gauge. It is thicker than regular Phifer screening with these results. 1) Harder to install. Took professionals almost twice as long to lock down because of the thickness and stiffness. 2) Causes some distortion in the view through the screen, objects are slightly out of focus. Slightly less light comes through the screen but in Florida that is a benefit. 3) Strong. Will outlast the squirrels that continuously roam over the top and sides. Resist tree branches that get blown on top and doesn't let pine needles stick through fabric (our main reason for getting it). It was impossible to pressure wash pine needles out of the regular screening. Now they don't get trapped and everything washes off easily. Occasional pressure washing should not affect the screen. 4) I don't expect needing to replace the screen during our lifetime. 5) Much more pet resistant than regular screen. If they do destroy the bottom 3' panel it is easy to replace. Same for kids. 6) Actual fabric cost is only 30% higher that regular screen but worth the cost for double the life. If you have no dangers to the screen (pets, animals, kids, trees or pine needles); don't expect high winds and want maximum visibility to spy on neighbors then definitely go with the lighter weight screen which should last 10 years.
