Review: Sheath is great - IMPORTANT TO PUSH HARD TILL CLICK SOUND - Hey guys, you have to push the knife hard into the sheath! It makes a loud CLICK when pushed hard. Push much harder then a normal sheath. The reviews with the guys with loose sheaths got mistaken. I also almost returned mine till I saw a review and saw someone having to pop loose the knife when taking it out. Mine was super loose also, no retention other than the handle loop. I assumed it was like that because of the reviews of loose sheath. But all you have to do is push hard and you get a loud CLICK, and it retains super well! I feel bad for the guy that didn’t know about this, that you’re supposed to actually like “push” it really hard. cold steel made it that way, so its secure because it’s a heavy knife. One guy in the reviews thought it was basically super loose and he heat blasted the sheath to shape it so it was bent in and he ground down the handles. I mean, poor guy I mean, wrecking your knife and all you have to do is push hard. I’ve never had a sheath I’ve had to physically push the knife into the sheath this hard before and its actually really good because this knife is so big and heavy. I’m very happy with this knife. It’s an extreme value. Also the handle being slippery or not grippy is not a concern at all for me, it grips very well. That being said I live in a dry desert so have not tested using it in the rain. ## Features - FORGED FOR TOUGH TASKS - The Survivalist knife is drop-forged from 52100 High Carbon steel, delivering exceptional durability; Its razor-sharp clip-point blade excels in precision tasks, while the steel guard offers safety for tactical and survival use - HIGH CARBON BLADE - Built from a single piece of high-carbon 52100 steel, this utility knife combines an 8" blade with a wide belly and stout tip; With a heat-treated blade extending to a robust handle, this hunting knife is crafted for resilience - SECURE-EX SHEATH - Equipped with a lightweight, tough Secure-Ex sheath, this tactical knife stays safely in place while being easy to carry anywhere; The sheath offers several knife carry options from neck to belt, and the ability to lash to a pack - VERSATILE & PRACTICAL - The clip-point design, paired with a solid steel guard, makes this high-performance knife indispensable for outdoor survival & emergency preparedness; The handle is ergonomically contoured for a comfortable, secure grip - SPECS - Weight: 18.3oz; Blade Thickness: 5.5mm; Blade Length: 8"; Blade Steel: Drop Forged 52100 High Carbon; Handle: 5"; Overall Length: 13"; Knife Type: Fixed Blade; Length Range: 5+ in; Steel Family: High Carbon Steels; Blade Shape: Clip Point ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B07MZX9ZF2 | | Age Range (Description) | Adult | | Age Range Description | Adult | | Best Sellers Rank | #35,663 in Sports & Outdoors ( See Top 100 in Sports & Outdoors ) #72 in Fixed Blade Hunting Knives | | Blade Edge | Compound Bevel | | Blade Length | 8 inches | | Blade Material | High Carbon Steel | | Blade Shape | Clip Point | | Blade Type | Survival Knife | | Brand | Cold Steel | | Brand Name | Cold Steel | | Color | Black | | Customer Package Type | Suitable for knife transport | | Customer Reviews | 4.6 out of 5 stars 556 Reviews | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00705442018773 | | Hand Orientation | Ambidextrous | | Handle Material | Carbon Steel | | Included Components | Grey Teflon Coated Blade. The handle inserts are extremely coarse — similar to 80 grit sandpaper, enabling a secure grip. **Q: How do you slide it on a belt. The clip doesn't work** A: It’s not meant to be s belt clip. Just a belt snap or pant snap. It’s primarily set up for a boot style clip to the top of the boot.... or just inside of the pants. Ulti clip is one of the best... for secure hold. Good luck. **Q: What kind of steel is this blade made from?** A: 52100 steel. It’s a high quality steel. Used for ball bearings. **Q: where is the knife made?** A: Mine say Taiwan printed on the blade ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great knife! *by A***R on September 6, 2026* Well worth the money! Love this knife. Great balance, very sharpe edge. Feels better in the hand, better grip that requires no wrapping. So far holding a great edge, though too soon for 5-star. I will continue to use it and update later. Have used it for some batoning, but nothing else so far. March 2026: I had the previous version of this blade but finally broke it after 5 years of abuse. The description of this version of the knife attempts to portray this as the same as the previous version as far as materials and spec go. But this knife is noticeable lighter and thinner than my previous version. It is lighter of course which is not good. This type of knife is often used as a chopper and the weight is a big part of that. It is a very nice knife. It is actually better balanced and the handle has good grip. I had to wrap the previous version in paracord to keep it from hurting my hand as I beat on the blade. The reason for average rating is I will need to beat it up for a while and see if it holds up as well as the previous version. I broke it by batoning some hard wood. I did not notice that I had the sharp edge up as I whacked it with a 2lb hammer thinking I was hitting the spine as I had done for YEARS with no damage. ## Frequently Bought Together - Cold Steel Drop Forged Survivalist 8" 52100 High-Carbon Steel Clip Point Fixed Blade EDC Tactical Hunting Utility Knife, 5" Ergonomic Handle, Weather-Resistant Secure-Ex Sheath - COLD STEEL SRK Compact 5" SK-5 Clip Point Razor-Sharp Blade 4.5" Durable Kray-Ex Handle Tactical Fixed Blade Knife w/Secure-Ex Sheath - Cold Steel SRK 6" SK-5 Clip Point Razor-Sharp Blade 4.75" Durable Kray-Ex Handle Tactical Fixed Blade Knife w/Secure-Ex Sheath --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.fr/products/128898143-drop-forged-survivalist-8-52100-high-carbon-steel-clip-point](https://www.desertcart.fr/products/128898143-drop-forged-survivalist-8-52100-high-carbon-steel-clip-point) --- *Product available on Desertcart France* *Store origin: FR* *Last updated: 2026-10-11*
