Great for acoustic guitarists!
I'm an acoustic guitarist, and I purchased this to help me get through 3-4 hour gigs. At 60, I can't perform standing the whole time due to a degenerative disk in my spine. So, I divide my time standing and sitting. This worked out well. I bought it at a reduced price because the box was damaged, and someone returned it. When I opened the box, the product was absolutely fine! I've been using it on gigs for the past year, and it's helped me a lot.

Very nice music chair.
Was skeptical after reading previous reviews. Very happy with this chair. To be used for saxophone playing. Very easy to assemble as most is already put together. The backing of the backrest and seat isn't the greatest, but will do. The backrest does clank, but a trip to the hardware store and pick up those cork round pads for cabinets, problem solved. This chair is comfortable to me and sturdy enough. I gambled and won with this chair.

Doesn't really fold
I really wanted this chair to work. I love the idea of the adjustable back support, so I can position it to the small of my back. It's good for that, but: 1. You "adjust" things by unbolting them and moving them to another hole an inch or two higher. Fine as long as only one person uses it. Which is true, in my case, so okay. 2. The back support never really gets "solid", it can flop around a little bit. Still, it's fine when you're using it. 3. It's pretty darn heavy. Not all that portable. 4. It's a "folding" only by the most liberal definition of the term. The legs fold beautifully. But the seat dosn't really "fold", as suggested by the arrow in the picture. It tips up a couple of inches, and that's about it. 5. Same with the back rest. It tips a little, but if you want to "fold" it, you're going to have to take it off. So, with heavy heart, I'll be returning it. The Wee's Beyond Cushioned chair is less than half the cost, and a lot lighter (a friend of mine has one). That chair doesn't have anywhere near as much back support, though. I'd have been happy with this if it at least folded the way way their picture indicated. (If I had a studio, it would be a keeper. It folds up just enough to lean against a wall at least partially out of the way. Nowhere near as inconspicuous as a folding chair, but a sight more comfortable to sit in for a long session. So I'm giving it 3 stars -- 1 star for my purpose, and about 4 stars in right setting.)

great concept, bad implementation
I am going to update this review. This chair has not been used in months. The cheap screws they give you with it have all either stripped or bent to the point where you cannot tighten the nut. The seat is hard as a rock now and not comfortable at all. This chair is just not worth the money. If it was $20.....maybe I love the concept of this chair. I initially purchased it as a practice chair. It's good for playing but only for about an hour or so. The seat is very hard and quite uncomfortable after 2 hours. The vinyl covering the foam is very loose and it seems to be too large for the foam. It has a slew of adjustments on it though for different body shapes so that is a positive. You will need to keep a couple of wrenches handy if you are going to be adjusting it or moving it in anything smaller than an SUV or a van. There are rubber guards on the foot rest that slide right off. I wouldn't count on having those very long if you are using this chair to gig with. It's very sturdy and made out of steel. This gives it a very solid feeling and I'm sure it will last a lot longer than many others. The price for that it is on the heavy side. At 27 pounds it could be an issue moving it around.

Might be a good chair... but broke in first ten minutes... no customer support. Still waiting
Defective part in this. Bolt broke in first ten minutes. Two weeks later, Pyle has done nothing. All I wanted was a replacement bolt. That's that short version. Here's the longer version: If you're like me, you tend to disregard the best and worst reviews, and focus on the ones in between. When you see somebody really really hot under the collar write a one-star review, you (I) tend to discount it to an extent, because maybe that person is just an unreasonable, angry person and isn't being fair. So, perhaps you'll discount this review a bit. I guess I wouldn't blame you if you did, but read on, and you may understand. I am basically a fair, reasonable and patient person. That's why, when, in the first ten minutes, before I could even use the performer chair at home or at a gig, a bolt that is apparently crucial and which seems to bear more stress on it that it can bare under some circumstances due to, I suppose, an engineering design flaw, when it broke, I was not alarmed. I just called Pyle and let them know I needed a replacement bolt. Two weeks later, I have nothing except this broken unusable chair. I have contacted THEM several times, and have gotten email replies (but no emails initiated on their own about what they're doing) saying that the customer support guy would contact the warehouse guy and someone would contact me about how I'd be receiving the part. Nothing. I understand that things can happen and occasionally a defective part goes out the door. I don't expect perfection. But, I DO expect a company to stand behind their product and take care a of a very reasonable customer request, for a replacement part that can't have cont more than 50 cents to a dollar. I am very disappointed in Pyle. It might be a decent chair-- I cant know because I've never been able to use it. I do know it's large, heavy, not really as portable as you'd expect, does not fold all the way down so it actually takes up a large amount of room in the car or wherever you choose to keep t when "folded down". But, I'd give it a chance. Except that PYLE has essentially just blown me of as far as I can see. So, I have now to resort to putting my experience with them online in the from of an Amazon review, where I bought it, and giving them the 1-star review that, while they've earned it so far, I hate to give. Yes, I guess I could have just immediately repackaged it and sent it back, but I thought-- that's a lot of effort-- how about they just send me the replacement bolt? Bad idea. While they are good about replying to emails and in the replies promising they'll do something, they are bad at actually doing something. Now, I am getting close to the end of my return window with Amazon. SO, I guess after waiting this whole time I will probably end up having to do exactly that, since I am not optimistic at this point that anything will change. I would consider revising this review, if they were to decide that, while they are not worried about the customer's experience much, they do value their online reputation and respond to my complaints here in public. Hoping for the best here, but expecting the worst-- that is, more of what I've gotten so far. As I said, maybe it's a good chair when not breaking immediately. It looked good online. I'd like to find out, but they aren't letting me. If you have one and like it, great. If you're considering buying one, understand you are rolling the dice. Maybe you win, maybe you lose. Good luck.

Great for small spaces
I was looking for a chair that would fit in the VERY limited space and ordered this one. It works and firs perfectly! The footprint is only about 14 square inches It's sturdy and very comfortable. I'm able to sit for hours to play again!

Needs better engineering
Purpose I purchased this chair to allow for the practicing of flute playing and performing for our kiddo. Likes Material frame was sturdy. Nice rich black color Dislikes Seat cushion: has ripples in it per the covering for the pad isn’t a good fit Back support: The support continues to be loose because the bolt to fasten it to the frame does not lock it into place Exposed bolt edges: once the product is assembled, there are a couple of exposed screw bolts, not ideal for design and can scrape the musician depending on how they play Seat position: once the seat cushion is installed, it’s not set to 90 degree angle. It tilts slightly downward , not ideal for a performance chair (or any chair) Conclusion: I had high hopes based on the product pictures and reviews, but the poor engineering really turned this product that should have been an awesome one into something else entirely.
