Smallworld [Green, Dominic] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. Smallworld Review: A great read - The book is an anthology of connected short stories; sort of like different episodes of a TV series. Each story builds upon the events of the previous stories. The author's writing style is very entertaining. I found myself laughing at the way he described mundane tasks like eating a potato. The characters are well developed and multidimensional. Mr. Reborn-in-Jesus and his wife initially comes across as god-fearing, salt of the earth farmers. But as the stories progresses we learn that their scientific knowledge would have many PhD green with envy. The Anchorite, who initially appears to be an anti-social hermit, turns out to be much, much more. What kind of hermit owns a nuclear warhead? Unlike a lot of Sci-Fi stories heavy on the "science," the "science" in this is explained well in such a way that it's easy to suspend belief and enjoy the ride. Faster than Light drive is a form of time machine? Well, the way the author has the characters describing it, it makes perfect sense. In short, a great book; well written, likable (most of them) characters and highly entertaining. Review: while looking for a new author gave this a go, only made a few chapters, usually I will stick with something until the end but with this,No may go back to it at a later date but probably not
