I purchased this head cover to provide some warmth and insulation against the wind during winter bike rides in the DC area. I like the fact that it has four different configurations, depending on what you need to cover. For me, it's all about covering the neck, the ears, and occasionally the nose. Even with temps in the 30's this hood works great in conjunction with the body heat I am generating. It allows perspiration to wick away, and any moisture quickly dries up after use by hanging it up. I've washed it a couple of times with my bike clothes in a delicate cycle with cold water, and it comes out fine after air drying. I don't bike below 32F or in rain, so I can't vouch for its effectiveness in real cold or wet. But if your winters are typically 30s and 40s, this should work for you.

Very high quality materials and size is just right. I use it under my motorcycle helmet and it's warm, but not too bulky.

Go with the under armour , much thicker and better.. This is thin and cold and overpriced.

I first tried this out when it was 2 degrees out with a wind chill of -20. With the weather being this cold for this long this year I really needed something to stay warm. I've never tried one of these things before but it was hard for me to breath through. Once I moved it to just below my lower lip it was ok. It did keep my neck and face from wind and my head warmer under my cap.

This is a good balaclava type hood, warm and wicking, my only minor gripe is that I wish there was more material I. The neck area. Otherwise, very good winter sports hood for the money.

works great under a helmet. everything i thought it would be. i highly influence any one who rides a bike in the cold to consider one or two, as it keeps my face and ears warm.
