They are well armoured binoculars, seem to be well made but all traces of Germany are missing on them which suggests that they are now made in a far-off land. Very disappointed with these as the two Steiner Navigator binoculars I do own are excellent. They were Made in Germany years ago and are well built, optically excellent and have survived some very rough handling in some very rough weather, once completely submerged. The floating strap proved its worth and they were recovered without any problems. Tough as old boots. It would appear that in the quest for cost savings, quality control has taken a bit of a nose-dive. Returned, and though a replacement was offered, I will look elsewhere.
