Which ingredient is the California Prop 65 warning referring to?

Probably the SILICON DIOXIDE, though eating it is generally safe. Like yeah don’t sandblast with this meringue powder. Prop 65 is so useless and vague.

Does it say when the powder expires?

The Lot# on the lid gives the expiration date. First 2 numbers are the year....next 3 are the Julian calendar date. (1-365 days of the year)

does this meringue powder make good topping for pies

Not sure if it ll help but my usage has given me brilliant results in buttercream ( need to maintain shape while decorating) reason- its pure eggs whites. stands to reason any recipes that call for egg whites will work with the powder. just be careful of the liquid you use, like instead of hot water i use cream in my buttercream. but bottomline nothing beats the real thing for a pie topping :)
