Quick Change (DVD) Bill Murray, Academy Award winner Geena Davis and Randy Quaid star as a trio of first-time bank robbers who commit an audaciously perfect crime ... but then find the heist much easier than getting out of New York City with the loot in this hilarious crime caper. Review: Underrated gem - I remember watching this movie with my mom back in the 90s and finding it hilarious, so I wanted to re-watch this. I will say that after all of these years this movie is still hilarious, especially with the great assemble cast. Bull Murray is still his funny self in here, Randy Quaid is hilarious with his whining and freaking out, Tony Shalhoub is hilarious in here as well, especially with him acting the role of a man who is an immigrant who speaks no English. Even in those scenes you knew exactly what he was saying ๐. Overall this is such a corny and silly movie, but I was laughing my butt off the whole way through. Review: Very funny. Under rated. - Cult favorite of mine. The movie revolves around how life can be in New york City as the cast attmpts to escape after robbing a bank. Being from the City, I get a lot of laughs at some of the nutty things that they came up with, which impede their progress. Tony Shalhoub (Monk) has a hysterical small role as a cab driver who doesn't speak English. Bill Murray has some classic moments, and Geena Davis is always a treat. Randy Quaid is also very funny as the somewhat slow and incapable Loomis. I always jump to my TV when I see this is on.

LOL Prime says "starring Howard Franklin, directed by Randy Quaid"
Just watched it for the first time tonight, February 2025, and am here to say the comedy holds up. Because, TALENT. The whole cast is great. Murray and Davis shine. Some of the funniest parts are in the periphery. I love that kind of attention to detail. Intelligentlyโwritten, but definitely not to be taken seriously. I'd put this somewhere in the vein of comedies of Ruthless People, Down and Out in Beverly Hills, and A Fish Called Wanda. Contrary to the description, actor Randy Quaid did not direct Quick Change, and writer/director Howard Franklin did not star in it. That error just adds to the fun. It's a fun comedy, for sure. Don't be mean to Bill Murray! You just back off and turn around, go be mean to someone else, selfโrighteous hypocrites, you leave Bill Murray alone! Ah, come back to a simpler time, when you could still prankโcall the NYPD with a payphone, the mob owned the kindergartens, and you weren't riding the bus for a million bucks if you didn't have exact change! Man, when that stepladder came out I lost it. It's all in the delivery, folks.

This review pertains to the Warner Archive Collection blu-ray release
"Quick Change" is a 1990 crime comedy film which was written by Howard Franklin who shared directing duties with Bill Murray who also starred and produced. The talented cast also features Gena Davis (who looks stunning by the way), Randy Quaid, Tony Shalhoub, Jason Robards, Phil Hartman, Stanley Tucci, Philip Bosco and Kurtwood Smith in supporting roles. It was released to solid critical reviews but was a box office failure grossing only 15.3 million against a production budget of 17 million. The basic plot involves Grimm (played by Bill Murray) who robs a Manhattan bank dressed as a clown. Much chaos and hilarity ensues. I have been a big fan of this film ever since I first saw it on VHS way back in late 1990. It is not brought up generally when the filmography of the legendary Bill Murray is concerned which I feel is a shame as his performance is one of his all time best in my opinion and plays to his considerable strengths and then some. Coming in just a bit shy of 89 minutes in length, it has nice pacing and does not overstay its welcome. Warner Brothers finally brings "Quick Change" to blu-ray as part of its Archive Collection imprint sporting what is listed on the back as a brand new master. The film is presented in its original 1.85:1 aspect ratio on a single layer disc utilizing the AVC codec at a beefy bit rate usually staying in the upper 30's. The film looks breathtakingly great on this release with beautiful colors, perfect contrast & black levels, accurate flesh tones and superb detail. Digital noise reduction or enhancement is nowhere to be seen and the film's grain structure is wonderfully resolved. I would bet that this is the best that "Quick Change" has ever looked. Fans should be truly impressed! Sound is presented in 2.0 DTS master audio sounding just as great as the film looks on this release. English subtitles are included for the hearing impaired. The only extra is the film's theatrical trailer. This blu-ray release by Warner Brothers' Archive Collection of "Quick Change" is a must have for fans of the film & Bill Murray. While I would have loved to have seen a full fledged special edition release with tons of extras, the presentation of the film is always the highest priority and this disc knocks that aspect out of the park. Highly recommended!

So Inexpensive- Just Get It!!
My siblings and I used to watch this on VHS constantly, in the way that kids do (you know, the movie ends and they start it again...) and we had NO idea at the time that this had been a 'flop' and that 'no one' saw it. When I saw the DVD, I jumped at the chance to see it again and hoped that it wasn't one of those things that's not as awesome as you remembered once you see it as an adult. But it is!! If anything, it's better now because there's a LOT of stuff that was flying right over our heads, or stuff that we understood, but only on one level, and as it turns out, there are more. The movie is smartly written, well-acted, and although it depicts a New York that in many ways does not exist anymore (pre-Giuliani,pre 9/11,seedy-filthy-Times-Square New York) it still holds up well and isn't "hopelessly" dated. The cast is stellar. EVERYONE is in this movie- you're going to be constantly pointing at the screen..."oh,yeah,THAT guy!" It is a pretty bare-bones disc, but older or 'bomb' movies frequently are, as they didn't foresee the rise of the special-features craze, and it's a shame, but so it goes. It was shipped quickly and was packed well, and was VERY inexpensive on Amazon. Really, for this price, even if you haven't seen it and aren't sure you'll like it, you can hardly go wrong. Throw it in with an order you were going to place anyway and score the free shipping. Watch it. Don't like it? You're only out six clams and you can gift it to someone lame. But if you like Bill Murray at ALL, or if you love New York, you'll like it. If you DO already know the movie...well,again, for six bucks?? Put in cart now!

Fun Movie for all ages
I have seen this movie a couple of times but forgotten until I watched the Blu Ray edition some of the people in it Bill Muarry Randy Quaid Gena Davis and Jason Robards are the headliners is this film but of interest are Tony Shalhoub and Stanly Tucci are two actors in it that have gone on to bigger things but they add to the enjoyment of the film. I laughed from the very beginning to the end at the hilarious things that take place in this funny movie. Quick Change is in the realm of Donald E. Westlake and the novels of the Dortumunder crime capers for the way Quick Change unfolds with the story that is for all ages to enjoy. In this time of so many movies Quick Change is worth the money to watch over and over again.

Fine heist movie with Bill Murray.
Great entertainment from Bill Murray, Geena Davis, Randy Quaid & Jason Robards. Had to import this from the US, but it plays on an ordinary Blu-ray player. Shame there is no extras, but the film is very entertaining.

And you thought YOU had a tough time getting out of town ...
Quick Change is a terrific Bill Murray/Geena Davis/Randy Quaid film that not too many people remember, but I am constantly recommending it to friends and acquaintances. Now that we have it on DVD, I've been able to show it to my kids, too and it made for a fun family film night. The premise is that the trio (Murray, Davis and Quaid) are New York City bank robbers who pull off a clever heist in the first 20 minutes of the film and then spend the rest of the time trying desperately to get to Kennedy Airport to catch their flight to Fiji ... except that they come up against the vagaries of the city itself that seems to be determined to foil their plan. For my kids, who love "The Amazing Race", this was like an extended edition of that show - but where everything goes wrong! To say any more would give away too many of the fun surprises, but if you're looking for a funny caper film give Quick Change a viewing. You'll laugh as you root for the bank robbers to make their getaway!
