This thumb guard really does its job, but here’s my advice—don’t ignore the directions like I did! The packaging clearly says not to open the foil until you’re ready to mold it. I opened it a little too early thinking my husband would help with the fitting, but we ended up rushing through it. Thankfully, it still worked out fine. The guard is very stiff and offers solid protection. We had a catching incident recently, and this has definitely helped boost my child’s confidence behind the plate. I’ve already recommended it to several other families whose kids have had similar issues as catchers. Definitely worth it for added peace of mind!

Parents with catchers in the Middle School and down, please purchase one of these to protect your kids thumb. They are easy to setup/install and absolutely do what they say they do. They protect younger catchers.

This helped my daughter but it was hard to fit in her glove

This is my first ever negative review. No box, no instructions.. after looking at videos, this is supposed to be a gel that hardens and molds to the thumb. Ours was already hardened, making it unusable and a total waste of money. This brand is good, maybe if I bought directly from the manufacturer, rather than amazon it would work Giving it one star, because I had to.. truthfully I would give zero stars

Seems to be working really well. My son has started getting serious about catching and is getting all his gear together. In one practice he mentioned getting "thumbed." I had no idea this was a thing. We went online and found this setup. Instructions were clear and getting it to form to his thumb worked great. He says it makes closing the glove easier also.

Had to purchase an additional one because there isn’t any really good directions on how to do the fitting. But once you know that it works well.

We tried many other options to protect her thumb before purchasing this. Our next step was a very expensive custom molded guard if this didn't work, so I am happy it works perfectly. She has been using it now for 6 months with zero thumb issues. It slightly rubbed her thumb area so we used a small piece of KT tape between her skin and guard and worked like a charm.

My son is new to catching. He was having a hard time with the correct positioning of his glove when catching and taking a lot of contact to the thumb area. I like the idea but the end result wasn't so great. The directions provided are clear and it was easy to do the molding but the final product was so stiff like a cast that it was too uncomfortable for my son to wear. Sadly it was a waste of money since you can't return the item. Be careful when ordering. Make sure you measure and order the correct size. You can not return this item even if unopened.
