Glamourpuss: The Enchanting World of Kitty Wigs

The title says it all - Glamourpuss: The Enchanting World of Kitty Wigs. I gave this to a friend of my dear departed parents who has mostly everything she needs. She hadn't seen the Christmas reviews of this book; this was a total and charming surprise. Of course I had to preview it myself for quality control - SO darn cute and creative. Of course the age-old question is "how did they get the cats to sit still?" And, emote at the same time - the languorous expressions of the feline will turn even the hardest heart around.

I bought this for a fellow graduate student who loves his cat and gets ribbed for it all the time. Other than the fact that the title is funny, I was surprised that the entire book is pretty comical (so long as you didn't have very high standards about a book detailing cats in wigs). The friend is going into the Peace Corps, so I got all of our fellow grad students and close friends to sign it like a yearbook. Everyone picked a picture they liked and wrote him a message. Yes, I normally scowl at people who write in books, but this one was less than the price I would pay for a greeting card, and there was way more room. Now he has a memento to take with him that he can read when he gets homesick, and he can recall that we are just as crazy as he. As far as the book goes, there was a cat in a wig on every page with some cutesy quote, and plenty of room around the quote to fill in some of your own.

This book changed my life. When it was released in 2009, I ordered a copy immediately. I was so excited and delighted the day it arrived, that I *HAD* to take it along with me on my dinner date to show my boyfriend of six months. Sadly, he was not amused. Even though he was well aware of and claimed to fully accept my crazy cat lady-ness (he put up with me talking about cats all the time, and knew that my cat and I came as a "bundled pair"), he angrily growled, "After a long day of work, I do NOT want to look at cats in wigs at dinner!!" My heart deflated. I knew then and there that he was not boyfriend to keep -- we obviously had conflicting senses of humor. I keep this book prominently located on my bookshelf, or on my coffee table . . . and it brings much amusement to my family and friends that visit. This book has also motivated me to make my own foray into photographing my cat in cat-sized wigs. I have had modest success. It's definitely a two-person process -- one person to nonchalantly and gently plop the wig on my cat's head, and a friend to quickly snap photos before my cat becomes annoyed and shakes it off. It's now become an annual tradition at my cat's birthday party to try to get a photo of her with a wig. In short . . . this is a wonderful book. Helpful in weeding out those in your life with no sense of humor with respect to cats and an inspiration for my own photography endeavors. I praise Julie Jackson in her unusual creative undertaking; and praise Chronicle Books for seeing that a market exists for quirky cat humor books.

This is one of the weirdest books I've ever purchased... but if you like cats, or I guess even if you hate them, this was definitely entertaining. How someone got these cats to pose in these outfits, complete with wigs, glasses, and other accessories, without getting their eyes scratched out is beyond me but they managed to get some pretty funny shots of these glamourpusses who actually look like they're having fun. Made a great holiday gift for my fellow cat-lover sister-in-law and the whole family had some good laughs looking through it.

Let's be honest. You love your cat but really just get tired of that same old look day after day. This book is a great way to get creative and spice up that standard issue feline. The pictures are great and will give some ideas into how to create that one of a kind look for your four legged friend. After reading this book, you will be a pro at turning your cat into a runway diva. People will turn their heads and simply state "That cat has IT". Partner this purchase with a cat wig or two and you won't be dissapointed.

This book is a must for all cat lovers, crazy cat ladies, and wig wear-ers alike! Very nicely put together. It's glossy and bigger than I thought. The phrases for each cat are witty and funny. Put it on your coffe table or on top of your human litter box. The author has an amazing way with words..check out her other stuff, unless you have no sense of humor or do t like to laugh.

Beautiful book. Great quality. It was a great gift for our white elephant gift exchange. The recipients were confused at first but then fell in love with the precious cat models and their bios in the book.

Cute book, great gift for a cat lover. I got it for my mom for Christmas and she enjoyed it.
