It depends on what you want in terms of density and look in your paints.In commercial water colors the amount of pigment to binder can vary from 10 to over 50% pigment. Your eye shadow will have its own binders/fillers so a reasonable starting point might be 1 part pigment to 1 part gum with enough water to get the consistency you want. Keep in mind that a little bit of water color paint goes a long way - 1/8 tsp of each will certainly be enough to experiment with (use an eye dropper for adding water). This product, as it is listed here is perfect for mixing with pigment for watercolor, printmaking, tempera, inks and more. You can use it to create make-up or face paints with pigment (non-toxic). An example is you can make a paste of gum Arabic and mix it with hibiscus powder for a pink-red lip gloss or blush, nutmeg for a brown eye shadow or blush, and so on. The sky is the limit, here. I use it also for art projects. I like to create a clear, thin liquid by mixing it with water, painting it onto an acrylic board, let it dry, then paint a watercolor scene onto the dried surface. The distilled water amount was used as needed to make this type of paint. Overall, this product is more cost-effective than its liquid form!
