I'm plus size and want to make sure it would work for me.** A: When it is folded in half, it is 22 inches long. You would need to measure your back and arms to see how many inches you need. In my opinion you don't want it too tight. I had it too tight and was starting to lose circulation in my arms. **Q: Does this band help improve posture, or is it mainly for shoulder pain (which I don't have)? I would want to wear it while working on computer all day** A: My interest in the shoulder band came about because I was experiencing neck pain as a result of bad posture or alignment. I found this band helpful because it served as a reminder as to proper alignment and provided gentle support. I think that this would be ideal for working at a computer because it would help you to remember to keep your shoulders down and to type with your elbows close to your body. I find it very comfortable although I don't wear it often any longer. I thought I would give it a try, hoping I could wear around the house and possibly to work. I guess it looks natural on her but of course she's working at a physical therapy place.Well trying to wear it at home while i'm doing projects was hard because it slips up and you really can't reach your arms up much-which I guess it kinda the point but to me wasn't compfortable. I have a 42" chest measured at the nipples. In order to use this band so that it was even beginning to resemble comfort (it was never comfortable), I had to use it at the maximum length. At such an extreme it would come apart very easily with even slight movement. The material the band is made of is also not soft at all, and is very itchy and uncomfortable if you are wearing short sleeves.Finally, I cannot fathom how this band promotes or enforces good posture. Perhaps this is due to its ridiculously short length? It wrenches your elbows and shoulders back so far that you begin to cramp in your lower trapezius. On top of that you lose all range of motion on your arms and you're left with little T-Rex style arms that can flap around about 8" in front of you. I cannot recommend this product to anyone, at least not a man.
