Works Fine
I saw this featured in a YouTube video to reduce the noise of a shop vac AND diffuse the blowing action from the blower port of the shop vac. The blower port had always been a frustration for me in my woodworking shop because it blew all the fine dust particles everywhere. This adaptor diffuses the blast of exhaust air so it partially eliminates the problem AND make the shop vac a little quieter, too!

Best at filtering dust
Excellent at filtering dust. I've had mine on my shop vacuum for 4 years now and it keeps working. Like other reviewers have noted, it's not really a muffler but is excellent at keeping the dust in the vacuum. I use my vac in the basement and before this device I rarely used may shop vacuum because it made a bigger mess than it picked up. So for the price, especially if your using a shop vac inside get one of these.

The Super Scientific Review You Are Looking For
Sarcastic title obviously but see the video for a very rough comparison of the sound and air dispersement. Great: Redirects/diverts and disperses airflow well enough that sawdust, dirt, and even dog hair doesn't get blown all around Side benefits: Some additional dog dandruff gets collected instead of blown back into the air, noise level slightly reduced, noise tone lowered/higher pitch removed Our 1st 24hr use case: We have hardwood/tile/rubber floors throughout the house and two shedding dogs that we occasionally like to make shorter work to vacuum by using a shop vac. Using a PVC 90° elbow to redirect air straight up helped some to not blow dog hair all around enough to actually use. Previously without anything on the out port made vacuuming nearly pointless. This attachment makes using the shopvac an excellent solution for us.
