BTH220 Bluetooth Headphones On-Ear, Wireless Music, Calling, Mic

Everyone else has already covered the sound quality of these headphones, so I'll focus primarily on how I converted these to use in my snowboarding helmet. They sound great to me (non-audiophile) inside my Smith Vantage helmet and they get really loud paired to my HTC Thunderbolt. If your reading this you know that all the other options for bluetooth helmet headphones will run about $200 (skullcandy and Uclear) although those options are a little easier to control and the phone clarity of the Uclear will surely beat these Kinivos. To convert these to fit my helmet I cut off all the plastic pieces (took me about 45 minutes). I used a utility knife for most of it, but nicked a couple of the wires (I was not extremely careful but put a good amount of effort into doing carefully). If I were to do it again I would try to use a fine point scissors for it all. By the earpieces was the most difficult part. I ended up twisting these pieces around to help break them loose and was surprised I didn't rip out the wire from the ear pieces. You might be able to prevent the twisting with the fine point scissors. Another option would be to disassemble the earpieces (they require three prong screwdriver which I have never seen before or a knife point might work) and see if you can get in there better with your cutting utensil. Since I nicked the wires a couple of times I wrapped the entire wire with electrical tape which turned out ok, but won't prevent water from getting in there. With my helmet the earmuffs are have holes to fit speakers and the pocket zips shut so I'm not to worried about water getting in there. I tried fitting the speakers in without the pads that come with the headphones (which just pull off), but it was uncomfortable. So I reinstalled them with the pads and they are very comfortable and actually sound better, which might be due to them pushing the speakers off my ear a bit and positioning the speakers in a closer way to what they were designed for. If your using a smith vantage helmet these took some time to get them to fit in the holes that are in the earmuffs because they are a bit larger in size, but moving the foam with my fingers and pushing down on the speakers allowed me to get the fit just right. I positioned the USB port so there is easy access for charging and stuffed the extra wire around the speaker w/o the controls. Operation: - The buttons are hidden, but with a little practice it's pretty easy to remember where they all are. I use Klim snowmobiling gloves that are pretty thin (and warm)and can usually get the controls right if I put my thumb under my ear pad for support and to tell where the edge of the speaker is. But I really don't change my volume much (just pause my music) and let my playlist run without changing the song to often. So they work great for me and I save $170 over the other bluetooth options. - Headphones connect to my phone extremely fast. - Haven't had a chance to test the phone clarity, but I didn't buy them for that. Usually don't even answer my phone while on the mountain. I will try to update this review when I get a chance to test a few phone conversations out in wind, riding, and on the chair lift. I bought these because it had large buttons on the outside of the speaker, to allow for operation while installed in a snowboarding helmet and were about the same diameter as the cutouts in my helmet padding (any other headphones that meet this criteria should work). I'm thoroughly satisfied with my purchase, hopefully it holds up for a long time. If they fail it will probably be due to the speakers/buttons getting wet or they might freeze up if it gets really cold out. I'll try and report back on how they hold up and any issues I encounter.

just got these in today, and I've already got one extremely good pro with these, that not alot of Bluetooth "makers" do when it comes to their products. The first thing ill point out, and by far my favorite feature thus far, is the fact that while these charge u CAN use them still. I've had several BT headsets, and headphones where while it's charging you CANNOT use it, at all. Secondly, being a HUGE music buff, i need good sound. I don't have a full range sound system in my car for no reason. The sound quality of these, listening to more metal/black metal/rock/punk styles of music, is exceptional. It's not horrible, of course its not the best out there, but for the price its not bad at all. It doesn't hit the extreme lows of say some rap/dub but there is still a presence of some moderate level bass. The mid-high range is decent, it does get slightly "scratchy" at extreme volumes but its not horrible. Last thing ill touch on is pairing. It paired quick and easy with my phone, samsung solstice. I did have a slight issue pairing it to my BT dongle on my comp but i realized i didn't have the "official" driver installed for it, which shouldn't have been a issue but it was. Found the disk for it and it paired with no issues, its a SMK-LINK VP6493. As of now there are no issues with this device. I've only given it 4 stars for now to leave, room, for any "early judgement" on the device. I got this more or less for flights as I've been traveling a lot lately. I will update this within the next couple weeks to let you guys know how it does traveling/while working. Edit - 9/24/2012 one thing i forgot to touch on, was how comfortable this was. At first it did seem a little small. it was a little annoying getting my hair around it. However after it was on it wasn't all that uncomfortable. A tad small but it fits and it doesn't "squeeze", and it doesn't yank on my ears. There is a video review for this item that touches on how comfortable this product is and he hits the nail on the head as some would say. edit - 10/13/2012 after a couple weeks, these headphones are still rolling, in most cases they outlast my phone *Samsung solstice* when I'm listening to music. call quality is good, I've only had a few instances where the other person couldn't hear me but I'm not positive if it was the headset as the phones the company i work for use suck, horribly. i use them daily while at work and home, the distance around the house is about 15-20 feet going through 1 or 2 walls, i know of 1 wall in the house that is a solid block wall and any connection *even my routers going through that wall directly to the other side* has issues with thick walls. I've also been on 3 flights with them and had no issues. occasionally however when at work it will cut out for a split second but its nothing to major. I've upped this to 5 stars for now, will keep you guys updated as to full longevity of them in a single use.

When a product has this many reviews, adding one more to the list seems kind of redundant. But the product is good enough that I think it should be commented on. And, you know what's interesting, I NEVER see these headsets in shops and stores, and the 'unknown-ness' of the brand would make me assume they were a junk brand if I did see them in a shop. It is only because of the high reviews here on Amazon that I would have considered buying them at all. Thanks Amazon, Thanks Kinivo! The sound of these headphones is pretty good for something that costs less than $30 US. Audiophiles will not likely want them for serious listening, but for casual listening, they work fine for me. The fit is comfortable and secure. By way of reference, my head is not that large. I like them because they are not ear buds, which I find uncomfortable after about 15 minutes of wear. The earphones rest on outside of your ear and have what appear to be leather (or high quality plastic fake leather, I can't tell) cushions that only partially insulate outside sounds from you. This, I like, since I hate the feeling of complete isolation that some headphones promote. The slightly loose seating of the ear cushions offer a benefit in that my ears do not feel 'sweaty' after about an hour of wear. In spite of the 'loose' seat of the ear cushions, they stay centered on the ear canal for me. The 'back of the neck' style means the earphones hang from the piece that wraps around your head, so they don't move much from your body movement. I have wire rim eyeglasses and the earpieces of the eyeglass frames do not interfere with the fit of the headphones. I think this is a comfortable headset to wear, but a person with a big head might want look elsewhere in that there are no extensions to the headset frame to accommodate larger heads In my opinion, construction quality is better than some of the reviews here might indicate. They seem reasonably well constructed to me. The only potential point of failure would seem to be the locking hinges where the headset folds up to fit in the smallish carrying bag. The hinges lock in place via friction, and I suspect someone who folds and unfolds these a lot might run the risk of wearing out that little plastic tab that prevents the headphones from collapsing when you don't want them to fold. The hinge itself is also plastic, but seems reasonably sturdy. I like that it folds and fits into the smallish carrying bag, though I doubt I will use that feature much. The headset also comes with a USB charging cable that you can plug into any USB charging port on your computer or (I assume - haven't tried) one of those wall chargers that accept USB cables. The charging input socket on the headset is the mini USB port (not the newer, smaller Micro). That seems standard on headsets, I don't know why. It connected with my Droid Bionic Phone quite readily. I made a phone call to my son to test it out. The audio at both ends seem pretty good. The microphone is implanted in the right earphone and in spite of the distance from the user's mouth. volume and quality of the microphone seem adequate. It also sounds pretty good when playing music on my phone via Pandora. I look forward to using this headset at the gym. I also connected to my HP Omni 720 All-in-one PC with built in bluetooth (Win7) with no problems. Again, the sound is acceptable for casual listening to music. I also tried to watch Battlestar Galactica on Netflix on the PC, and here, I felt I encountered the first negative issue. The sound of voices do not synch perfectly with the movement of people's lips. It isn't so bad that it is a major problem, the synchronicity is ALMOST right, but the problem is there. I also have a Creative D80 bluetooth speaker system and that doesn't have as bad a lip synch issue as the headset does (though it isn't perfect either), so there probably is some processing speed issue in these headsets that isn't common to ALL bluetooth devices. I don't think the problem is serious enough for me to downgrade the headsets but does prevent a 4 star device from being a 5 star device in my mind. I haven't formally tested the distance at which the phones will work, but the distance from the PC to the bathroom is about 25 feet, and I could hear the sound just fine in the bathroom! All in all, I consider this headset device to be about perfect for my intended purpose of listening to music while exercising at the gym. I consider them to be OK or adequate for my secondary goal of watching video without disturbing others. I don't find them inadequate in any way. I feel I've gotten my money's worth.

i guess at this point (if anyone is acyaully following my reviews over the years) that i have evolved into some kind of an "audiophile!" However more recently the need for a decent wireless blutooh was braigh in by the sad fact of my office move and cubicles "re-arrrangemtn" the desk became smaller and the wires on my desk just became too much! since i am wearing something soothing sound all the time i needed to really be freed from this constant wire chasing sound situation! I mainly came across KINVO things purely by reading reviews and people! The last video review with the 2 dudes convinced me it was a good choice! (trust me i am very testy with sound and headphones!) But the purpose was clear this time! The Likes so far : (obviously i will update this in a few months of use) - NO WORES! Wohoooo! - decent battery life - light on the ears - headphone cups are comfy (for big ears like me!) - simple old SCHOOL USB pin for re-charging - works across iPad, iPhone 4 and Mac (on Mac Bluetooth setup u need to hold on the on/off button for about 9 seconds for the Mac to see it) - sound quality: its not WOW! But better than anything else wireless out there (on the Mac sound PANE you will see both the BTH220 and BTH220 Stereo! ) The not too exciting bits: - can't really use in the GYM (i feel these things will break easily! i have been using the senihiser wired --for 2 years and they are now actually breaking up!) - battery life: i am a skeptic of Bluetooth generally but really can't say if this thing will last a full workday without charge!) - the highs and lows on certain sounds is just too "gritty" no fullness of crackle -- (thats audiophile - i give a crap parts --- lool) Overall: if your looking to rid yourself of WIRES and not move constantly, then these so (most likely office desk use ) then get this! but of course i will update this in a few weeks! happy listening! **UPDATE ON DEC 11 2012*** Well i had to take my calls and music and audiobooks during working hours to the gym downstairs! i had no choice but to put these on ... here are the results: - no wires is amazingly amazingly liberating! - lets me focus more on the workout - the battery has been so far amazing and i have not charged it since the first time (which was 4 days ago) - the sound quality is a bit flimsy from the iPhone - the ear cups (leather) really cant deal with sweat for sure! (they can always provide replacements for just working out i suppose that it for now ....more updates as i use and abuse these! **small irrelevant update** folks usually like everyone else, these devices all come with USB Cables - which inevitably get used and reused for other puroises like USB drives, charging devices, External CD drives... i dont know with the USB cables that came with this is meant for one thing and one thing only: CHARGING THE HEADSET. Dont expect to do any data tranmsfer over this cable. I have tried with both an old Logitech Harmony Touch Universal Remote with Color Touchscreen - Black (915-000198) and a Samsung SE-208AB/TSBS External DVD-Writer - Black in both cases the USB cable is a "dud" but like i said its strange that a USB cable would be a cheap "no brainer anymore" but the headphones still alive and kicking after 24 hours since last charge!

I really like these Bluetooth headphones. For under 30 bucks, you can't go wrong with these. My second generation iPod touch's headphone jack is starting to go but the rest of it works well so I thought going Bluetooth would be a good way to go. Plus, though my Macbook Air can go anywhere with me in the house, my wife is not exactly fond of the noises that come out of it. I like to have it with me when I'm doing stuff in the kitchen so I can't wear corded headphones to keep us both happy. The solution seemed to be bluetooth headphones hence the Kinivo BTH 220. I liked these because they were not in-ear and they are worn on the back of my head -- wouldn't want to mess up my hair, would I? The end result is the Kinivo BTH220 Bluetooth Stereo Headphones fit the bill very well and I'm happy with my purchase. Here are more details: Sound Quality: These are not my Sony MDR7506. They also didn't cost 100 bucks. For something that are not my studio headphones, these are probably the second best sounding headphones I own -- and I own quite a few. I have corded headphones that are around 30 bucks and don't sound as nice as these. Stereo -vs- Mono: If you accidentally choose the mono mode instead of the stereo mode, you'll think these suck. The mono mode is intended for phone use and works perfectly well for that. If you're listening to music, make sure you find the stereo mode -- you'll be happy you did. Choosing stereo -vs- mono is somewhere in your devices bluetooth settings -- that settings stuff is all still a little confusing. Microphone: The microphone is on the side of your head by your ear. Of course it's not going to sound as clear as something next to your mouth -- that's just physics. It seems that the microphone works well enough. I got these primarily for music. Other than a few Skype Call Tests, I haven't tested the microphone extensively. Comfort: Every once in a while these will get a bit uncomfortable. I find if I reposition them a bit -- usually putting the band on top of my ears instead of behind my ears -- the discomfort will go away. When the headphones are behind my ears they seem very well planted to my head which is desirable when active. Loudness: There are not the loudest headphones; but paired with my iPod, they get loud enough to make me want to turn them down. I'm a child of the 60's -- we blast our headphones. When the battery is running low it may distort a little at top volume but nothing about which I'd really complain. Battery Life: As a newbie to these, my one complait is that the battery lasts too long. What?!? you say. In the directions there was a note that said to make the battery last longer I should completely discharge and then fully charge the battery three times before just topping off the battery. Dear Lord! -- this battery won't quit. I'm trying to completely run it down so I can re-charge but it won't die. I like to keep my devices fully topped off; but, this total discharge thing is taking FOREVER. Nonetheless, in the long run this will be goodness. Directions: My set did not come with directions (or they fell out as I was opening these at the post office) but I was able to find them online with little trouble. Here is the link: [...] The Light: The blue light that says the headphones are alive might be a little bright; but, not insurmountable. The way it's positioned, though, is not easy to cover. If you're the type who likes to brag about how many bluetooth devices you have, you're in luck. Buy Several: One thing that is a bit of a pain is that when you switch from one device to another it's hard to know what is taking control. I have four devices and when they are all in close proximity, I usually have to turn them all off and then turn on the one I want to connect. This is this is not so much a problem with these headphones, rather bluetooth. Over all I really these headphones. They are not perfect but pretty darn close.

First of all Ive owned several pair of headphones in the past. Starting with the 2 pairs of Motorola HT820, 2 of the Motorola 305, and before this pair, the Arctic Sound p311. Ill tell you right now the Arctic Sound is the exact same pair as these Kinivo. Just different colors. Thats not a bad thing at all because I loved the Arctic Sound, except they died before a year was up after heavy usage. Just saying if you are trying to decide between these and the Arctic, Id choose whatever was cheaper. I got these for $19.99 when the Arctic were $30. Again the Arctic lasted about 10 months, but I wore them daily on my mail route which is 4 or 5 hrs easily, plus to the gym. They sound great and the best thing about them is the battery life. It claims 8 hours, but I guarantee you will get 12 hours per charge easy. Maybe more. The Motorola 305 will get 6 hours battery life. I had to charge them every night. The Kinivo I can skip a day or 2. The only thing I wish they would fix, and this covers all manufactures of Bluetooth headphones, is the warning tone when the battery is low. I ran these down on purpose and it gives off 3 tones every 30 seconds when the battery gets low. Problem with that is the warning tones lasted for almost an hour. Thats another hour I could have enjoyed my headphones without being interrupted with tones every 30 seconds. Its so annoying and I dont know why companies dont make a warning when there's 10 or 15 minutes left, or spread them 10 or 15 minutes a part at least. Its like playing Zelda when Links heart level goes below 3 and beeps constantly. That should have been fixed on Zelda 2 for the NES. Other than that the only small gripe I have is I cant fast forward or rewind with these on an iPhone, only skip to the next or previous track. I could with the Motorola 305. Its not a big deal, just a minor thing. The ear pads are comfy and didnt come off like my Motorola 305s did. I ended up super gluing them back on and making a mess using too much glue. The range is great. 30 feet. All in all I gave these phones a 5. They arent perfect, but a pair this great for $20.00 should not be passed up. $30.00 is a steal also if the price jumps back up. UPDATE!!!! Great news, which pertains more to the Arctic Sound earphones i purchased 10 months ago, and said were no longer working. I plugged them up yesterday to test the charge once more before I tossed them out. They charged for an hour, and Ive been using them since with no problem. My only guess is maybe I got them wet with my sweat or out in the rain on my mail route. Either way now i have two great pair of head phones now. So again just buy which ever is cheaper at the moment and you wont be disappointing. I also recommend the Monster Clarity HD Portable Bluetooth speakers. I just purchased those on sale for $63.00. They are amazing!!

For $30 bluetooth headphones (cans), I understand that I'm paying for convenience - not measurably outstanding sound quality. Most folks will be pleased with the highs and lows, though some will doubtlessly want more of both. The internal amplifier is sufficient for all but material with the lowest signal strength, so unless one is intent on damaging one's ears, no problems there. The circumference of my head is a standard deviation or so below median. As such, the cans fit me wonderfully, though I'd urge those with larger noggins to consider trying them, if possible, at a store prior to buying. They are not in ear, or around ("enveloping") ear: they are over ear. As such, they allow a bit more air flow, and a bit more intrusion of external sounds. Keep that in mind. Also, the material on the surrounds - the soft portions in contact with your ears - is very thin and will likely not react too well to sweat over an extended period of time. Pairing the unit with several devices was efficient. The problems I've had with these units thus far, and the reason that - after a week's use - I can only give them three stars - are twofold: charging and shoddy workmanship. My instruction set (printed on heavy paper and meticulously folded) affirms that charging status will be indicated by a red LED (when discharged or charging) which will turn to blue once charged. However, even after moderately heavy use, the red indicator will only illuminate for between 1 - 3 minutes once connected to a charger (either directly into a USB port or into a polarity & voltage matched converter into the wall) before winking out. I don't know if it's charging completely or not, but there's no warmth, no LED: nothing to indicate that charge is happening/complete. So far, my use hasn't completely killed the battery (the company recommends three full discharge/charge cycles for best battery life), so I cannot be sure to what extent the unit might or might not be charging. Since I have been using the cans, it suggests they are charging - but without any notifications, I'm flying blind... Further, the units could be a little better put together. I'm not looking for hand spun wiring and wood accents: I'm talking about a USB cover that (ghaw!) actually closes and a four-way multi-directional ring (used for adjusting volume and track) on the right ear that doesn't slide and make noise whenever my head tilts. The cover, while not likely to cause rapid deterioration of the internal bits, nevertheless should be functional over the device's lifetime to protect uninsulated areas from detritus. And while the clinking noise of the adjustment ring isn't noticeable while biking or running due to the cans' permeability to external environmental noise, it's quite irritating when using them with home devices. If any of these characteristics change, I will update this post. --- After about two weeks' use my decision is in: the rattling is worse and the charging status remains a mystery. Listening time is quite mixed, as well: sometimes many hours, and occasionally a few. Also, I noticed that short reviews with problems have garnered a response from the company; mine didn't. It seems like many folks enjoy these and have adequate units. I didn't, and thus won't recommend them to any friends seeking a similar product.

I'm surprised I haven't seen any complaints about the lack of adjustability of the BTH220 headset. First thing I noticed when I tried to put it on was that it didn't fit! It didn't quite reach all the way to the front of my ears. Then I looked for a way to adjust the size, and I noticed there is none. The plastic band is one solid piece of plastic, except for the places where it swivels for folding. So the headset didn't quite reach all the way to the front of my ears, and the ear cups didn't sit snugly against my ears, which let much of the wanted headset sound out, and let a lot of unwanted ambient noise in. Fortunately, the problem was not bad enough that I couldn't fix it to my satisfaction. I took a candle to the plastic frame of the headset and heated it up just enough to be able to re-shape it to fit my head shape a little better (a little more square in the back). That made it so it just barely fits all the way around to my ears. The fact that they loop around my upper ears helps to keep them in place. I also re-shaped (increased) the curve near the ear cups so that they curve inward more at the front and fit more snugly against my ears. They still sometimes fall off if I move or tilt my head too far, but it's not so often that it's unbearable. I saw one review video where the guy wearing this headset had a big gap between the headband and the back of his head. So either he has a tiny head, or I have a huge one. :-) Now for the the good. The microphone seems to be good enough for phone calls. I've done a few test calls, and the sound of my voice is just a bit muffled, but I think it will do. I can't whisper and be heard like on some headsets. I haven't used it yet for any real calls, so I can't say for sure what other ppl will hear and think. I've tried speaking voice commands with it to my Iphone, and it seems to work well. I like the fact that I can listen to music on both my computer and my Iphone with these. I'm by no means an audiophile, but I think the sound is pretty good for such a reasonably priced headset. It's definitely better than other headsets I've had. After the reshaping, I think the comfort level is pretty good. The padding on the ear cups is soft, and the headset is very light. The volume goes high enough to drown out external noise, but not loud enough to hurt my ears. The battery life seems to be outstanding. As some other people have mentioned, the instructions say to completely charge and discharge the battery the first two or three times of use for best performance. I noticed it takes two or three full days of using and leaving the thing on to discharge it. Overall, I think this is a pretty good headset, and for $20, it is a steal. Just beware if you have a big head, like me.

C'est ma première expérience de casque "raz le cou", c'est très stable dans la rue, compatible avec le port d'un casque de protection mais par contre pas du tout agréable allongé dans son lit, assis dans un TGV ou avec un capuche : la barre en plastique vous rentre dans le cou. Par contre, l'absence de fils dans la rue ou dans le métro est bien pratique. Les boutons piste suivante, augmentation du volume etc sont situés sur une oreille et non différencié d'un point vue tactile (du genre un rond et un carré) donc impossible a utiliser sans mettre sous vos yeux les boutons.

Adquirí los auriculares Kinivo BTH220 hace un mes y me han sorprendido muy gratamente. Sincronizan con todos los dispositivos con los que lo he intentado (PS3, PSVITA, teléfono móvil, ordenador) sin ningún problema salvo la PS3, que te pide una clave que es la genérica del aparato, 0000 . Se oyen bastante bien salvo quizas unos graves un poco pobres y el micrófono incorporado cumple de maravilla, según me dicen las personas con las que he mantenido conversaciones tanto por móvil como por PS3, se escucha perfectamente a pesar de su lejana ubicación a la boca. Tienen buena ergonomía y casi no pesan (los he llevado durante más de una hora caminando y sin problema). La duración de la bateria es muy buena y se cargan bastante rápido. Su único contra, por ponerle alguno, es los materiales con los que está fabricado. Dan la sensación que se puede romper con facilidad y los botones toman holgura fácilmente. En resumen, si no te quieres gastar los 60-100€ que te pueden costar unos auriculares bluetooth de buena calidad éstos son una opción muy recomedable.

Freisprechmodus klappt auch, aber Achtung: bei Druck auf den großen Knopf genau im stillen Moment zwischen zwei Liedern versteht der Kinivo das als Wahlwiederholung, habe ein paarmal früh um fünf meine Familie damit geweckt, muß man halt wissen ;O) Welcher kleine Knopf was macht, hat man sehr schnell raus. Ich trage es im Winter über der Wollmütze, ist immer noch laut genug. Ohne Mütze aber für mich etwas locker. (Basecap?) Hat auch im Regen bisher durchgehalten. Kälte bis mindestens -8 Grad ohne Einfrieren. Achtung, nicht jede Player-App kann gut mit Bluetooth arbeiten. FolderPlayer harmoniert mit dem Kinivo wunderbar.

These headphones are amazing value for money and since buying them (feeling it worth the risk for the tiny puchase price) I have used them daily for several hours. They paired effortlessly with my phone and I am very pleased with the quality of the listening and the comfort. I was looking at headphones costing a great deal more and will not bother now as these do what I want them to do. They also allow me to listen to relaxation sessions on them whilst lying in bed next to my partner in the early morning (meditations). For the money I don't think you could possibly do better. I have Senheisser wired headphones and reach for these in preference every time as they are so much easier to use without all the faff of undoing the wires to start using them. They arrived fast and well packaged. Very pleased indeed
