I don't believe the tip detached. However, it was so poorly constructed that it would not actually hold a pill securely for administration to a cat.

What size pills will this administer? I have small Azodyl capsules -- don't know the size, but they are small.

My #4-size capsules didn't fit in it. The pills would have to be much smaller than an asprin.

My little chiuhaua needs a 1/4 of a pill so it's very small!!! Will this work?

No Shellie, it won't work like you want it to work - it is a very difficult pill popper for small cats and dogs and especially if the 1/4 pill is very tiny. I had to get another one.

Can it be used with size 3 capsules? Capsules size 3 are 15.7 mm length and 5.33 mm diameter. Fits well with this size of capsule?

I used it with a cat. It did not work at all. Complete failure. It did not keep the medicine secure in the housing. It was too flexible. I tried over and over and it was not stable enough to hold the medicine until I got it into the cat's mouth. It was not a matter of the medicine being the wrong size. It was the actual construction.
