Nea to the idea of body make up. Have used self tanners for years. Can someone explain how this covers blemishes, scars or veins?

As with any foundation, it creates a thin layer of colored makeup, that dries quickly and sets as a water resistant foundation. You can add layers if you need more coverage.

does this come off if you sweat

Not really. I mean, if you are planning on having sweat dropping off you, you are taking a risk. If it's just a hot muggy day, you should be fine.
