Mixed Bag
This film has some strengths: the return of grindhouse legend Camille Keaton as Jennifer Hills; (relative) newcomer Jamie Bernadette, who gives a daring performance here; flashbacks to the original classic; the absence of a soundtrack, which was an idea well-utilized in the original film, and which works here as well; good cinematography, and a couple of great plot twists. There are even some excrutiating moments of violence in the sequel that stand up to the banned, video-nasty essence of the original film. Unfortunately there are a few outstanding problems with Deja Vu as well, and they're biggies: it's overly-long and drags, with too much exposition, and at 2.5 hours I imagine it could have been cut effectively down to 90 minutes; the overacting of Maria Olsen, she has one good scene (at night in the cemetery) and the rest of her performance is over-the-top and unbelievable, like a parody of a villain; she has a self-consciousness as an actor that reads through. The actor who plays one of her henchman, the skinny guy with the beard (he also has one good scene, in the riverbed), gives Olsen a run for her money in the horrible-acting department. Not to mention the fate of Jennifer Hills herself, which I won't reveal here but which I saw as a slap in the face to the fans who loved Keaton in her powerful - even indestructible - role in the first ISOYG. In the end the bad aspects of the film outweigh the good. Even Savage Vengeance is better than this crap. What a wasted opportunity to make a decent sequel.

Great movie!
I was always a huge fan of the original I Spit on Your Grave, so I was ecstatic when I learned that the original director had come out with a proper sequel. I loved this sequel, and was wowed by the fact that the original Camille Keaton came back to reprise her role from the original film. I would have given this sequel five stars, but took away one, only because I hated what happened to her character in it. That was, to me, completely unnecessary. But, I loved the way her daughter came in to fill those big shoes, and took revenge for her! All in all, the film is a worthy successor to the original!

Oh dear, oh dear oh dear! What an absolute car crash of a movie. I couldn't take my eyes off this offering, not because it was good, but because I was absolutely gobsmacked as to how dreadful it is. I am quite a fan of the original, and even the reimaginings, but this is without doubt one of the worst films I've ever seen. It's not only the pacing that's wrong with this, the interminable running time consisting of random violence broken up by tedious monologues that go on for ever. Theres also the incredible and terrible overacting of the main main villain and the female lead villain. I have literally never seen such gurning and bugeyed performances. The villains always end up screaming at each other all the time allowing captives to escape , Camille Keaton can hardly move at her age so to watch her stumble away from captivity is a laugh riot. Then there is the "comedy" old couple who are stultifyingly boring and in the wrong movie. They begin by helping our victim but end up trying to bury her alive. What the actual @#$%! Camille Keatons daughter is the most famous and highly paid model in the world apparently which is quite amazing considering her underwhelming looks. To cap it all, the final shocking reveal, that Camille Keatons daughter was the product of the original assault in the 1978 I spit on your grave, makes absolutely no sense unless there some kind of sci film time shift has occurred. All in all this is a big pile of dogs droppings and shows that the gritty and tense original was a fluke accident from a talentless hack.
