Behrens Galvanized Steel Trash Can, 31-Gallon

over the past year have tried a variety of can types. first tried to go with a less expensive, under $20, hard plastic can. terrible, those fall over constantly and the lids barely stay on when warm let alone cold. the next type went with a different style but same material and same problems. then went and spent $40 on a much better 'soft' plastic trash can. no issues with that one at all other than it costs so much and that was without a lid. then two weeks ago after searching the nearby fields for our plastic cans decided to try something different, old school metal cans. I wasn't sure what to expect but was VERY pleased once they arrived and i saw what i was getting. very good quality steel can. a flat bottom with just enough weight so it won't go flying off or fall over in the wind. back to the quality i would not be surprised to have these new cans of ours last a decade or more. unlike plastic or rubber it won't degrade over time. the handles are welded to the can but are made so that they pivot for you when lifting. if you get a dent in a can or lid it pops out easily like new. i will never waste another dime on other types of garbage cans. of the four types tried these are by far the best!

This can is perfect; just what I was looking for and needed. I am organizing my shed and in one corner I have an accumulation of shovels, rakes, sledge hammers, brooms, etc. all shoved into one corner. I ordered this beautiful 31 gallon metal can and put EVERYTHING that was in that corner inside the can. I love the lid but I put it aside because it isn't needed. The can holds everything, with room for more . It is now so nice to go inside the shed, go to the metal can and pull out whatever tool I need. All so neatly organized. Thank you. My shed now looks clean and neat!

Good size for storing pet food bags . Holds 2 or 3 large bags and keeps our rats, raccoons and water. Lid fits tight. Keeping in garage.

Can and lid were dented upon receiving. I contacted the company who said contact Amazon. I initiated an Amazon return to pick up can. Can was left accessable for UPS. Label was left in mailbox without taking the can. Amazon suggested cancelling the return, and initiate a new one. It still didn't get picked up. I was told to cancel, and start a return again. Now it's past the time, and I can't return. The can is dented, and the lid is dented so it doesn't fit properly. Very disappointed in customer support, and Amazon support. I have a useless can. It is very thin material, and a nightmare to get returned. Large box doesn't fit in a small car. Waste of money

I ordered 2 cans to go in the Behrens cart. Both arrived in good condition with minor dents in the lids, which were under the trash cans. The dents popped right out when I pushed them against the padded handle of a rolling shopping tote. The lids fit snugly, but I added bungie cords run through the lid handle and attached to each can handle. The goal is to be able to keep critters out so I can put them at the curb the night before early trash collection I'm sure they will take a beating and last much longer that comparably priced plastic containers that critters can chew through and that crack in freezing temperatures.

I use these for several purposes. I have four for different bird seed, one of cat food, one for dog food, and use some to keep boxed foods in to keep the mice out. Also keep some pots and pans in them to keep the mice away from them. The mice are really bad and although the house resembles a trash can outlet to some degree, these really do protect the pet, bird and human food from the damn mice. I have just gotten to where I store everything I don't want nibbled on or crapped on or peed on by mice in one of these or in a heavy duty storage bin. And think I might have finally found a good mouse repellent but with the house completely surrounded by pastures and rodents, know it will be an on-going battle as long as I live here. And, yes, I do have cats. But they are fat and lazy and will not help me fight the mice. They totally ignore the mice.

Two of the cans came in packaged up, even though one was still dented. The material these are made of are very thin but they do the job. My biggest gripe is I really thougth that the lids would seal better to keep the flys and other insects out. Put a bag in and in a few days I went to put in another bag and it was full of maggots and other flying critters. Seems to be keeping the raccoons out for now. I ordered 3 of these to replace the crappy plastic ones I've had for years and the coons have eaten so many holes in them it was time to replace 'em, but one came with no packaging whatsoever and was beat up pretty bad. So for shipping, 2 great, 1, thumbs down. Again, they do what they're supposed to do, hold trash. Raccoons can't eat a hole in them and I have placed them on bricks so they're not sitting on dirt so they should last quite awhile. For the money, I'm satisfied. Happy? No... could be a bit thicker steel but then again, for the money.... will leave it at that.

This is perfect for my needs. I use it for my winter compost. It sits just outside my patio door. I can add as needed and don't have to walk far.

A little lighter weight than I expected, but still fantastic value for money. Overall, I'm extremely happy with them...using them for feed bins in the barn.

Love the size as it holds a lot but the lid is very flimsy and easily bent
