Nite Ize Clip Case Sideways Phone Holster - Protective, Clippable Phone Holder For Your Belt Or Waistband - Large - Black

After almost losing my first smartphone when my holster fall off my belt I started buying the leather-ish holsters with closed belt loops. The problem is that, invariably, the closed loops tear off or the leather that covers the main clip comes loose, exposing more and more of the metal clip. Then I found these Nite Ize holsters. The hook at the bottom of the clip does an excellent job of preventing the holster from casually slipping off my belt. Even when I’m not wearing a belt I can just clip it on my pants, and the clip will catch on the inseam and help prevent the case from slipping away. Since they work well with or without a belt I’ve purchased these cases for my wife (never wears belts) and kids as well. The plastic clip is flexible but durable – we haven’t broken one yet. The holster itself is as tough as it looks, and keeps my phone well protected - I do a bit of camping and hiking so that’s a big plus for me. It has a pocket that can hold some cash, cards and my DL, so I can leave my wallet at home and go lighter on overnight backpack trips. Be advised that this holster *will* make noise when you open it. As other reviewers have mentioned it uses Velcro to keep the lid closed – it’s not magnetic like most leather cases. For me that’s not a deal breaker, but if you need a holster than can be opened silently, this holster is not for you. So, what are our holsters holding? - I’m currently using the XL version of the holster for my Nexus 6 with a Ringke Max case. - The Large version of this holster was able to hold my previous phone, a Nexus 5 with a hybrid case. - A few other family members use the Large version of this holster for their Samsung Galaxy S3/S4 phones, also with hybrid cases. - One of my daughters uses a Motorola G with a clip-on hard case. That phone is a tight fit for her new Medium version of this holster, but the fit should improve once the holster’s elastic relaxes a bit. All said, I’m more than happy with this product (and I hope they don’t stop making them).

First of all I want to say that this is the 2nd holster that I have bought of this exact version. The first one I bought was the medium size and I used it for my Droid Incredible. When I upgraded to the HTC Thunderbolt, I had to get the Large size so that it would fit the much larger phone. This holster is built with quality materials. It is very sturdy and the Large size is made for large smartphones with screen sizes of 4.0" and above. I bought it for my HTC Thunderbolt that has a 4.3" screen and it fits perfectly. The belt clip is permanently attached and it is made of very strong plastic. The bottom of the clip has a hook and loop closure so that it doesn't come off. In fact, when you want to take it off, it takes quite a bit of maneuvering and fiddling. This is a good thing, because I can't tell you how many times my other holsters have come off in the past. It's amazing that I haven't lost any phones with those other holsters. Inside the holster, there is an interior pocket which provides a place to store ID, credit cards, or cash. This holster reminds me of military-type specs and you can tell that it will last you for a long time. The only con that I see with this holster is also the same con that you are going to find in the military combat uniforms: Velcro. After a few months, the Velcro will start getting very fuzzy, but it will not be completely useless. I had the previous Medium size holster for about 1.5 years and the Velcro still works. It is just getting really fuzzy and it doesn't have the same extreme grip. This is by far my favorite type of horizontal holster I have ever owned. PS. The other small con is the noise it makes when you open the flap. Try to remember to leave the flap open before you go into meetings or conferences. External Case Dimensions: Large: 5.5" x 3" x 1.7"

First the negative; instead of having elastic bands on either end of the case, I would have preferred it to have solid material, nylon like the rest of the case or leather. I understand why open-top cases without a lid would use elastic; it's to grip the phone preventing falling out. But this case has a great lid with a slanted design for easy opening not to mention slick appearance, and it has ample hook and loop closure to secure the top. The reason this lid issue is a negative is because it makes the phone hard to slip out. I have a Galaxy S-3 with an Otterabox Commuter case so it is large, which is the reason I selected this case. At this point the only thing I can hope for is that the elastic will relax over time and make the phone easier to remove. Now the good stuff: the case is well made, great design with a great belt attaching device. Instead of standard cloth loop(s) or a clip like you'd find on many cases, this one has what appears to be a durable Nylon or Delrin type plastic that slides over your belt and hooks under the bottom edge of the belt. VERY SECURE! This design does a good job of preventing it from slipping off the belt like so many do. I would recommend it and would buy it again.

Perfect for my needs. We'll made and sits and stays safe on the belt. To small for todays standard size smart phone, but I didn't buy it for that.

The case is very good, but it would be much better if they show exact dimensions , for me has been small, and I had to buy another bigger
