OptiMate3 0.8A, Smart Battery Saving Charger for 12V Lead-acid Motorcycle and Powersport Batteries

Purchased these(4 units) for my 2 scooters, 1 Honda Shadow 750 and 1 Burgman 400. The weather here is southeast Colorado is such that when the roads are clear you can bike it so I do not pack them away for the winter. I keep the batteries on charge when the temp gets into the sub 40's and these units work beyond my expectations. Since they also will completely discharge the batteries and recharge them I do not worry about them going bad. Really happy with purchase. Took about an hour to wire the batteries up and put the charging ends in easy access locations. They are kept in my carport and I run an extension cord to a multi-plug adapter and can plug all 4 bikes in at the same time.

I ride a 2023 Harley-Davidson Nightster Special and generally don’t ride as much in the winter when it’s really cold. Rather than hope the battery doesn’t discharge too much I’ll plug this in when it might be a week or two between rides. It works perfectly and is easy to connect to the battery cable the bike came installed with.

Optimate 3 is my go-to for a battery tender on my motorcycles during the winter. It extended the battery life and I think it is a very good product. I recommend it.

I've been using battery tender brand chargers, but needed something that would take better care of cranky batteries. This charger has "No risk of overcharging. Totally safe for vehicle electronics. Sparks suppressed. Safe for long-term battery maintenance. Automatic shut-down if short-circuited or battery disconnected." "Safe for electronics" is important when using CanBus systems. However, It's not a very user friendly. The user interface consists of lights that indicate the "charging" state. The included instructions aren't clear of all the states and the meaning of all the light colors/blinking. A portion of the process is a 12hour charge test cycle, so for effective use you have to leave the Optimate connected for a long time. As long as you're not in a rush this is a good charger. You just need to let it do its thing.

I bought this for charging my Scooter battery. I opted for this unit over some more popular cheaper alternatives, primarily after seeing people mention that its cable connectors are of a higher quality. In particular I wanted to have a hard wired external plug in socket, to facilitate easy connections to the battery, without having to remove side panels. The supplied leads were perfect for this and now I can easily keep my scooter battery in top condition over winter when the bike will get little use. Overall I am delighted with this purchase.

I have had these charges for over 7 years now I start with the Honda optimal 3 single bank for my generator after the battery when dead. After bought a new from Honda they show me the charger and explained how it work. I was sceptical but I bought and tried it on the old generator battery well it brought the old dead battery back now I have two batteries for the generator.So after seeing how it work on that battery I bought a bank for my diesel truck as it is stored over the winter.now one thing I do is the batteries in the truck are disconnected then the charger is installed.the second two bank was for the extra two batteries I put in my 5th wheel for a AC/DC inverter I installed, other one bank is for the trailer battery.how the four bank is for extra batteries I have and these batteries came from wreckers so they are older batteries which I have for spares if needed. Have used them yet except for test 12 volt items. Now I have read some of the negative comment which may or may not be true but I have been a Mechanic for over 45 years now and these things work very well and would recommend these to everyone who has to store batteries for along time and you can leave the batteries in the item in my case the truck trailer generator. Oh I almost forgot I just bought another optimate for my classic car but this one was an optimate 4 not a 3 which all the others are. AS I SAID ABOVE I RECOMMEND THESE HIGHLY

Me gustó el tamaño y lo completo que viene con los cables adaptadores. Es muy sencillo de utilizar. El Optmate 3 hace todo, solo lo conecté y esperé a que hiciera el diagnóstico de la batería y esperar a que pase del foco amarillo al verde y listo, encendió sin ningún problema! Lo usé para mantener y cargar la batería de mi motocicleta. Lo recomiendo ampliamente, no duden en adquirirlo. Como dato es el mismo que venden en la Agencia Ducati, pero a un precio muy elevado y sobre pedido, el cual tarda bastante.
