Real salty but works good to season things and the big container last along time

A staple in our family
We've used Adolph's tenderizer on beef for years. Both my mom and grandpa are butchers and they use it as well, so it's definitely a trusted staple in our family. It does a great job tenderizing beef without adding a bunch of extra flavor, which means you can season the meat however you want afterward. Simple, works well, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.

...wow. Why didn't I buy this a decade ago?!
Given that the price of red meat continues to skyrocket with (seemingly) no end in sight, we've significantly downgraded buying spendier cuts of meat. Carne asada is a staple in our household, but for whatever the reason, the past few times I've purchased it my usual marinade no longer seems to tenderize it properly. Started researching meat tenderizers, but was really grossed out that so many seem to contain MSG. This was one of the few that has no MSG, but several of the reviews complained it was "too salty" which concerned me a bit as I love to use seasonings, but most already contain a degree of salt. That said, we are not a household that buys into the old school thought process that salt is dangerous. (Not to send anyone down a rabbit hole, but low potassium is generally the culprit behind high blood pressure, and salt balances potassium so higher salt = low potassium. Supplement with a little potassium and you're back to being balanced) All that said, you need VERY, very little of this on your meat to tenderize it. The granules are about the size of normal table salt, so it's incredibly easy to gauge how much is coming out. The most recent batch of carne asada I made was absolute perfection, with zero chew whatsoever. About 10 minutes seemed to do the trick, and I was able to add my normal seasoning. The active ingredient, bromelain, is actually pretty healthy to boot. It's derived from pineapple, and is well known to decrease inflammation and can even boost your immune system in higher doses. It does contain sugar, but as someone who follows a clean, seed oil free keto diet - it seems to be an extremely trivial amount. It doesn't have a sweetness to taste whatsoever, not is there a single gram of sugar on the nutritional label. This bottle will probably last me years at this rate, and we eat red meat several times a week. Such a steal. I'm just mad I didn't buy it sooner!

Definitely will tenderize your steak forward direction
This is the only meat tenderizer I will use. I donโt seem to have any problems with it on taste or being too tender. Just follow the directions and use just enough not too much.

Adolph's Unseasoned Tenderizer, 44.5 oz
This is the only way to buy this meat tenderizer. A small bottle at the store costs way too much. This larger container is a great value. I keep refilling my small bottle, and it is lasting a long time.

Additional use
Excellent to treat bug bites. Wet towel and liberally sprinkle tenderizer and rub on sites. Obviously keep away from eyes!! The protein in the bite is affected by the tenderizer.

Bought for bee and wasp sting protein base toxin.
I bought this for bee, wasp, and rattle snake bites. It breaks down the protein base toxin, when applied fast, in a water paste. Works great on bees and wasps, and dont want to review snakes! I have no idea how it does with food! ๐คฃ

Delighted I could find this here at Amazon!
I used to buy this at the grocery store long, long ago and then I couldn't find it for many years now. On a whim I looked here and voila! Fantastic! I can recommend this for inexpensive cuts of meat considering how expensive things are getting. A little goes a long way, tenderizes very nicely and so I can recommend this! One foodie to another reading this.
