Marvellous piece of kit
Like most Japanese designs these are very simple, very robust and work really well. I have used primarily as a guide when cutting glass, but I think it was designed for woodwork. It will be very useful in marking out accurate 45 & 90 degree cuts for frames round doors or pictures or skirting boards etc. Not cheap, but a good buy.

Actually a āsquareā square
Iāve had issues when buying squares, unless you spend a lot of money the chances of buying one that is accurate are very slim. I donāt know why that is, I mean if you canāt manufacture a āsquareā square then you shouldnāt be selling them. As soon as I got delivery of the Shinwa mitre square I checked it with one of my squares that I know was accurate and to my relief this copy was.
