Macally Small Wired Keyboard for Mac and Windows - 78 Scissor Switch Keys Compatible Apple Keyboard for MacBook Pro/Air, iMac, Mac mini/Pro - Plug and Play USB That Saves Space and Looks Great

I've been using this for about a year now and I still love it. It connects easily to my Macbook Air (with an adapter) and there's something easy about typing on it that I really like. Lightweight and compact which makes it easily portable. Allows me to put my laptop up on a stand to raise it to an appropriate level for virtual meetings so people arent looking up my nose and with this keyboard still sitting on my desk, I can still type on it during my meetings. It does have a tapping sound to the keys, which not everyone likes, but I don't mind it at all. Good value for the price. Highly recommend.

I've been using an old wireless Mac keyboard and got tired of putting AA batteries in it all the time. This little USB keyboard is the perfect replacement. It's definitely not winning any awards for quality, but it is a great size, and matches the look of my Macbook Pro. Good value for money.

In recent years, I've used many Mac keyboards -- Apple, Logitech solar-powered, Logitech rechargeable, and several wired keyboards with a keypad. All of them sooner or later left me frustrated. Logitech's batteries wear down in a matter of months. The solar keyboard is no longer really available (except on the secondary market). And I just got tired of the "your keyboard has died, change the batteries again" routine.Unfortunately I could never really find a suitable wired replacement, until I tried this keyboard. While it's not perfect, and it felt a little "clacky" when I first started using it, it is nevertheless the best solution if you don't want a full-sized keyboard with keypad crowding your desktop.Pros:* Wired (for me this is a plus) - no more batteries!* Same approximate size, shape, and styling of Apple's official keyboard* Performs reasonably as expected.* No more wrestling with finicky wireless connections or batteries* Price still seems high for machine-molded plastic and some minor electronics, but it's cheaper than competitors.Cons:* Feels a little cheap when you type at first... a little "clickety-clackety"* Keys and typing action are not as nice as Macally's larger keyboards* There is a bright, unnecessary power light at the top of the keyboard. It's distracting, so I taped over it.* Plastic feels sturdy, but cheapMacally also makes a great, low-priced silent wired mouse that is also excellent. Overall I give this keyboard a positive rating because it's the best solution I've found to solve the "stop using batteries" problem. A better keyboard could still be made, but since Apple discontinued their wired products we are left to search for third party providers. All things considered Macally did a credible job of providing a replacement.

I needed a connected keyboard for my Mini Mac, as the Mac comes with no way to start it otherwise. I continue to use it, as a much less expensive version of Apple's brand name keyboard. After almost two years of heavy daily use, it's still looking and working fine.

Upgrade from a really cheap keyboard that failed to register many of the keys I struck. Just what I needed at a good price.

I bought this Macally USB keyboard so I could elevate my MacBook laptop on a stand and sit up straight to work.Oh, wow, I love this keyboard!WHAT I LIKE:-- It's nice and "clicky," so when I touch-type I can tell what I have typed.-- The keys are "scissor" mount keys, which is my favorite feel on a keyboard.-- It is exactly the same size as my MacBook keyboard, with the same size keys.-- It is USB powered, which I like. Even though it uses up one of my USB ports, the keyboard response is much better and more predictable than with a bluetooth connection.-- The "space gray" color is attractive, and matches my MacBook well.WHAT I DON'T LIKE:-- The DEL + Fn key doesn't work the same as on my MacBook. I like to DELETE forward sometimes, and this key combo doesn't do it, it only DELETEs backward. I haven't found a key combination on the Macally that does DELETE forward yet.-- The keys are not backlit. I know the manufacturer didn't say the keys were backlit so it's not actually a fault, but still, backlit keys are SO helpful in a dark room or cubicle.

I never review products. After owning this keyboard for about a year and growing increasingly frustrated with it, I went back and looked at this page and saw it had stellar reviews. I felt compelled to give a more honest look at the keyboard.The bottom line is that it works and has a similar layout to mac keyboards and will get the job done in a pinch. However, if you type a lot or program for a living, you will eventually want something better. Here are the major issues:1. It often fails to register keypresses or double-presses keys.All of the keys still work after 1 year. However, from the moment it came I had problems with the "3" key (takes extra force to make it register) and the "O" key (often inserts two "O"'s instead of one). I suspect the poor quality control will lead to similar problems on all the keyboards. These effects are subtle - only someone who types for a living would probably even notice. But still, it's frustrating.2. It can't handle keypresses with more than 2 modifiers.I doubt this comes up for most users, but this is a problem for me. Some of the hotkeys I use in my workflow require 3 modifier keys (for example: "Command+Control+Shift+3" - that won't work). This keyboard will not register all four keys. It can only do 2 modifier keypresses like (Command+Shift+3)3. Cosmetic: the keypresses don't feel great. It's nothing like typing on an actual mac keyboard.Bottom line: you get what you pay for. It's a passable keyboard, but probably not for power users
