needed to setup some angles for a project. Worked as it should, magnet had decent holding strength and easy to use. Was accurate enough for my project and gave consistent readings.

I needed an angle indicator for an older pneumatic drill rig that lacks instrumentation. This tool can be set on the drill feed rail while positioning to set correct hole inclination/declination, and remains in place thanks to the magnet. The plastic body is good quality and the enclosed dial holds up well to oil and grease. For twelve bucks it really improves our drilling consistency.

This 700 angle finder seems fairly well made, though it is all plastic. The ceramic magnet is strong enough to hold it, even on thin metal like a fridge, and it is glued presumably to a flat plate that fits into a keyed slot from behind, so it shouldn't fall off when pulling the angle finder off a metal surface if the adhesive is in good condition. The needle is not damped and as long as the finder's dial face is held vertically, the needle is free and sensitive. Any off vertical (10 deg or so?) and the needle seems to stick. The accuracy is within 0.5 deg of true horizontal. I used a couple levels to check and the needle was about 0.25 to 0.5 degree off horizontal, as indicated by the levels' bubbles. Not too bad considering the length of the angle finder molded mounting/measuring surface is only 4.5". Checking some windows ledges in the house, the needle showed 0 deg. I bought this for pinion angle measurement and adjustment on my car. So, it'll be used to determine how two angles compare and this will work fine for that. The other measuring surface at 90 degrees to the magnetic face is a V-groove for pipes and rounds. There is no magnet on this side to automatically hold the angle finder to the pipe. The illustration at the head of the web page indicates a "Magnetic V-groove edge". Yes this edge is magnetic, but it is flat. The video shows this clearly. For just under $11 with tax, you can't go wrong. Just don't throw it in the toolbox and assume it'll last. It's a delicate measuring instrument! If you need super accurate angles, buy a good quality digital level. UPDATE: After a week or so, the magnet fell out, as others have noted. I epoxy'd it into place and it ain't going anywhere now!

I bought this angle finder because a very similar one that I had from 25 years ago ended up being dropped and the needle got sticky. So far so good, does not appear that quality has dropped any from the older ones as the needle is very fluid and takes a bit of time to settle on the angle number. First job I used it for was to set the forward bunks on my boat trailer. I measured the boat first and then transfer that number to the trailer. Anyway, it works very well for the price you pay. I don't know that I would use it for precision measuring but for basic mechanical and household uses it is just fine.

Great for 99% of angles you’ll ever need to find. I have several digital angle finders and the batteries always fail just about the time I need them. The magnet is strong and the body is sturdy.

Great design. VERY easy to read, and the contour of the edges makes it very easy to use on a lot of different surfaces. Magnets are strong enough to hold it securely. Accurate to my digital gauge, but does rely on the dial being somewhat vertical. If it is to close to horizontal, the dial will not move properly since it works on gravity.

I have used one of these for quite a few years. They are easy to read, versatile and remarkably accurate for such an apparently crude bit of kit.

Bought this for my portable satellite dish and seems to be an effective aid in locating required satellite. User friendly.
