Blackstar have really excelled in improving the HT amps with the MK2s, as the tonal versatility of these amps is staggering. As a funk/rock/fusion player, i am able to dial in so many great sounds!The Pros:1 - Tone : excellent when cranked at the right levels. From US cleans/ pushed plexi cleans to hot-rodded Marshall and Mesa lead tones, it really does them all well! With 3 channels and voicing switches on all, its impossible not to find a tone you like!2 - Takes Pedals Very Well : i use a Blues Driver and a JHS Bonsai (tube screamer), and they work excellent in pushing the cleans into overdrive or stacking with the gain channels.3 - FX Loop : a must for me!4 - Attenuator to 6W : it works fairly well and does seem to allow cranking at lower levels. The tone does change a bit, but I find myself keeping it on full power mostly.5 - The Speaker : ill be in the minority, but i really like the Celeation 70/80, as its a flat sounding speaker that takes different style of preamps very well. Its easy to EQ and tweak, and I reccommend you dont change the speaker as the amount of sounds in this amp have all been tailored for this speaker. You may see an advantage in certain voicings when changing the speaker, but you will no doubt sacrifice others.The Cons:1 - Weight : its heavy! Not for the bad backs in the world.2 - Handle Quality : frankly, not great. Im on my 2nd handle as the first one snapped on me at a gig. Being a Blackstar fan and owner of many of their amps (HT5, HT20, HT40 Mk1 and MK2), they always skimp on the handle! Buy a better quality handle immediately or get wheels, because I promise you it will break after lugging it around for a month.3 - Low Level Play : this amp doesnt really shine unless the master volume is past 3/4. It can sound a bit dull when not utilized correctly. Make no mistake, IT IS A GIGGING AMP. It shines as one - or cranked in the studio.Overall , its a wonderful amp that can sound great indoors or outdoors. The flexibitly and versatility of the HT60 MK2 is far more appealing to me than the Boutique offerings out there.
