We love our pig! *by A***Y on Reviewed in the United States on June 11, 2015* Though this molcajete says it's preseasoned, I still ran 5 batches of rice and two batches of dried beans through it before I used it. It gave off some grit during this process, so I'm very glad I didn't put expensive ingredients in it right out of the box. The other reviewers didn't mention if they noticed grit (and some even said there was no grit in their food after using this right out of the box) but I would suggest that anyone buying this season it themselves.Having said that, I do believe Sur La Table did sand a good portion of grit off the inside of the bowl during the manufacturing process, and I'm grateful for that because it meant I didn't have to do the "full" seasoning ritual (and it saved some time and elbow grease!). Also, I've read some horror stories about folks buying a lava rock/stone molcajete that was authentic but just contained a lot of finer grit that never seemed to stop issuing from the bowl even after many rounds of seasoning. I'm grateful I didn't have that experience here and my family loves the guacamole that I've made with it so far.There's a lot of advice out there to avoid cheap imitations and other molcajetes that are not made out of lava rock, so for anyone out there wondering if this is authentic--it most certainly is. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Happy Chef! *by G***L on Reviewed in the United States on January 20, 2016* This was a gift for a friend who is from Oxaca Mexico.
