Unflattering, gives you a weird shape

I need to stop letting myself get tricked by the bra models. I'm cursed with huge boobs, and i hate them. I got lucky my first pregnancy and my breasts didn't get noticeably larger. Unfortunately, I'm on my fourth baby and these things are unbearable. I had a Royce that started out comfortable, but as I grew, it got worse. I saw this and thought it looked comfortable. It was in my hard to find size, and very affordable. So I get it yesterday and try it on. The first problem with it is my own fault - I didn't realize the size I got was US sized and not UK sized. I'm used to UK sizing. So that's on me. I'm planning on getting another one in a smaller band and a bigger cup, to see if that helps. This is how I put it on: unhook the front of the cups, pulls the twins through the hole in the sling, and fasten the cups after adjusting. That's the best advice I have to make sure you adjust it the best. The fit...could be better. I'm not a fan of how soft cups makes you look. This bra gives me a long, flat cone look. It doesn't look good at all. I'd kill to be the size I was with my first pregnancy, I'd be able to fit the underwire bras still out there. One plus, this bra - while unflattering - does manage to be somewhat comfortable. So I guess there's that.

Good support if you know how to fit it; see my tips on how to put it on

This bra has a round, circle sling hammock. The hammock is supportive even though it has no under wire. I found the support helpful for side sleeping and nursing, so I ordered extras for wearing at night. When putting the bra on, I find that it is easiest to get a good fit by first unhooking both cups. Then lift each breast through the openings in the hammock and position them comfortably. Then hook the cups closed on the eye that best fits you; there are three, which allows you to adjust for a more custom fit.The bra lifts and separates the bust. It does not create the cleavage in the center that more typical bras create. I prefer this style bra as it is more supportive of heavy breasts over a long day. I searched long and hard for a nursing bra with this fit. By contrast, this bra would not be my choice for a low neckline, if I ever wanted to show off my cleavage; but I rarely do anyway. The fold-down cups are closed with a hook and eye closure. I found this to be a little annoying to fiddle with when an impatient toddler is waiting for her milk. I prefer the plastic snaps that are more typical of nursing bras because they are easier to unsnap with one hand, but I like the bra well otherwise. The fabric is thick but without any shine. The nude color is light, and would match a pale complexion well. The bra is not sexy; it is utilitarian. The shoulder straps are adjustable over their entire length, which should mean I can shorten them quite a bit if needed.I'm a 32DD in this bra. I tend to be a cup size larger in other brands, so I found the cup size runs a little large. But your experience may be different if you're shaped differently. Consider trying more than one size since I initially tried 32F and found the cups to be too large. The back has four rows and four columns of hooks and eyes. In a 32, I am able to wear it on the loosest setting. That is desirable when starting out with a new bra, because the band will stretch over time and you will be able to tighten it to get longer life out of your purchase.

    Elila nursing bra

*by T***L on Reviewed in the United States on April 27, 2012*

Nursing bras are absolutely impossible to find locally in anything larger than a DD cup, but they are so expensive that the idea of buying one online, without trying it on, is less than ideal. However, I did a lot of research, read a lot of reviews, disregarded vanity, and decided on this one. No, it's not pretty, but it works. It's the first bra I've owned in a long time that is actually *my size,* because a person cannot just walk into a store and buy a 44H off the rack. I always end up settling for DD in the largest bust measurement (usually no larger than 40 or 42), or a 2XL in a sport bra. I did buy some nursing bras locally, but in these smaller sizes. They will do for down the road when my milk supply is well established, but I desperately needed something for the first few weeks that would not bind, squash, or lead to other issues like clogged ducts, mastitis, etc. It had to be comfortable against my sore skin and, of course, easy to nurse in. Most important, it had to actually fit, not just "work in a pinch." Otherwise, why bother spending the money? This serves all these purposes admirably. Because I noticed in the description that the fabric does not stretch, I ordered a cup size up to accommodate engorgement, and I'm glad I did. So the one I have is a 44I. However, the cup size is actually a bit adjustable by using the three different hook closures for the drop-down part of the cup, which would be sufficient adjustment for times like growth spurts when milk production goes up for a while.Other pros: 1) I'm thrilled that, even with my long torso, I don't have to lengthen the straps to the very longest they can go and still not have them long enough, which is what happens with every other bra I have ever owned or tried on in my whole life. These straps fit well and still have about 2-1/2" inches of room for adjusting them longer. 2) It is reasonably priced compared to its peers. $42 is a lot of money to me, but it is middle-of-the-road for a nursing bra, especially any of the styles that come this large. 3) The cup closures are the metal kind, like what is used on the back of the bra band, not the plastic kind that most nursing bras have. That means I can be more confident about them holding up to the stress of large, engorged breasts without breaking or suddenly popping open. 4) Did I mention that it *fits*? It fits!! This is actually very exciting. Even the bust band fits extremely well, without needing to stretch one bit (which is good, because this bra really does not stretch). Turns out, if you buy a bra in your size, it fits you. This is a new experience for me, and I'm sure I'm not the only person in my size range who has lived with this problem. 5) It doesn't have wires, which is great for nursing breasts, yet it is quite remarkably supportive, even with the weight of engorgement added to already large breasts.Cons: 1) As I said, it's not pretty by any stretch of the word. I suppose personal taste will determine to what degree an individual might deem this bra "ugly" -- that is, whether one might consider this bra "not so bad," "hideously ugly," or something between -- but I can't see anyone, regardless of taste, putting this on and thinking, "Oooh, nice." 2) This kind of goes along with it being un-pretty, but the cups hold the breast slightly outward rather than nipple-forward. This actually works for me, since that's how I'm built anyway, so the bra isn't trying to push me into an unnatural shape just at a time when I need a bra that supports me in my natural shape instead, but it may not work for everyone; and, again, it's not a particularly pretty look in my opinion. However, it does give plenty of separation, so this could really be either a pro or a con, depending on preference. 3) The same metal hooks that I like so much for the above reasons also make the cups a bit harder to get closed again after nursing (although they are not difficult to unfasten). It might require two hands to re-fasten them, or at least more practice to close them one-handed than the plastic closures require.Bottom line: I bought this bra to give me the fit and support I would need during engorgement and the first weeks of breastfeeding, when bras that bind are not a good idea. My milk came in last night, and so far, this bra has met or exceeded all my expectations in serving the purpose for which it was purchased.
