Best purchase. But you need an external recorder for the best output. I am using Tascam DR-40 and getting very detailed crisp sound. As compared to wireless mic there is an hustle to use this because this requires a full setup and wireless mic are just plug and play. But trust me the whole process is worth it the output you get from this mke600 is very detailed so if you are seeking quality just go for it.

I bought it as an upgrade for my SM48 dynamic for voice over purposes. This review is purely for that purpose. Its 5 times the price and I would say its only 2 times improvement for my purpose. This mic has a nice proximity effect and warmer sound compared to the SM48. For long duration hearing the sound from this mic will be more pleasant than the sm48 atleast. But the ambient sound rejection and noise floor will be almost same or slightly worse than the SM48. The gain knob is set at around 2 o' clock on my pre amp to get a signal between -12 to -18 dbfs. the noise floor is slightly below -70 db rms which is good, but not great. It doesn't sound great one feet away from your mouth for voice over purposes. But if you go closer to chew on the mic you can get a nice big sound for those promo voice, which the sm 48 cant give. It is also very EQ friendly because of its smooth frequency response. hope this helps

Très satisfait du Sennheiser MKE 600, c’est un excellent micro canon pour un usage vidéo sérieux. La qualité audio est nette, précise, avec une très bonne directivité qui permet d’isoler efficacement la voix même en environnement extérieur. Le rendu est propre, naturel, avec peu de bruit parasite. Je l’utilise principalement en tournage vidéo (interviews, travel, contenu YouTube) et il s’intègre parfaitement à un setup hybride type boîtier + cage. Gros avantage : il fonctionne aussi bien en alimentation fantôme qu’avec pile, ce qui est idéal en configuration mobile ou en vanlife. La construction est robuste, fidèle à la réputation Sennheiser, et le filtre coupe-bas intégré est très utile pour réduire les bruits de vent ou vibrations. Associé à une bonne bonnette (type deadcat), il devient vraiment performant en extérieur. En résumé : un excellent rapport qualité/prix pour ceux qui cherchent un micro directionnel fiable, polyvalent et professionnel.

The quality of this mic matches other mics in the $800-$1000 range. If you need a truly professional mic and cannot afford to go above this price point then this is the one to get. This is also the only battery powered mic I would consider. The Rode NTG2 sounds weak on AA power and you will notice a decrease in input volume on the Rode. The MKE-600 will still sound punchy and cut through on AA power and one battery provides 150 hours of operational time. I find the MKE-600 mixes well in post production with other common on-set production mics from DPA, Schoeps, Audio Technica. Of course the next level up MKH-416 is more than double the price and has also has a characteristic with a big bump on the high end frequencies which this mic will not capture, but that is unique the 416 over other almost all other Shotgun mics. If I had to compare, the MKE-600 sounds closest to a DPA 2017 which is a $999 mic. You can't go wrong with the MKE 600 and its versatile, nimble, quality capabilities as both an on-camera mic or boom mic.
