Benchmade puts out great products, and without a doubt the Mini Grip ...
Knife guys know that the Griptilian, or its baby brother the Mini Grip, is considered by many to be the standard bearer when it comes to an EDC knife. Benchmade puts out great products, and without a doubt the Mini Grip can be considered along them. The blade comes very sharp, and holds an edge well. When it is resharpening time, it is very easy to put a nice, clean edge on it. It steel is very rust resistant. As ever, the Axis lock is strong. I can't imagine a stronger lockup, or one that is easier to use. As with every Griptilian that I have bought, however, I did need to back the pivot screw off just a bit so that I could grip the lock and flip it open and shut. I always do this to the absolute minimum necissary, then I oil it and flip it a bunch of times to get things running smooth. As it comes from the factory there is no blade play. If you back off the pivot screw, like I did, you may introduce a bit of play. If this bothers you, you may have to sacrifice the ability to flick it open while pulling the Axis lock after you tighten the pivot up again. This is no problem, as the thumb studs are tactile and make deployment easy. The handle is a reinforced nylon like material. So people complain that this makes it feel cheap, but I don't really agree. Anybody who picks this thing up and uses it a bit is going to know it is an exceptional knife. There is gimping on the sides and outer edges to give you a solid grip. My only complaint is the gimping on the sides is very agressive, and I worry about it shredding my pockets. I wish they would put a flat spot under the clip similar to what Spyderco does on the Delica. So if this is such a great knife, is it in my pocket everyday? No, it is not. I prefer my Benchmade 940. The Griptilian is a rugged knife that you can beat on, but part of why I carry a knife that costs the better part of $200 is that special feeling you get when you pull it out of your pocket. However, if I couldn't carry the 940, the Griptilian, or its baby brother the Mini Grip, would be a strong contender for my pocket real estate.

Lasts a lifetime, life saver.
Really excellent product! It is a little pricey, but as a person who has carried a knife as a tool every day for over fifty years, it is worth the price. Strong, sharp and extremely well made.if you are looking for a life saving tool, that will last a lifetime, this is for you.

Perfect EDC knife
The knife is amazing, razor sharp, comfortable grip, high quality knife and you can tell since you open the box, my only negative comment is that not all the benchmades bring the serial number on it, so you cant verify the knife on the page, a little disappointed, but the knife is perfect for EDC

BEST EDC!
I have been researching around this size of knife for a EDC. I always have a knife on my hip no matter where I am. When looking for a new knife I usually go for the lowest price and best reviews, however my friend an I both love benchmade products. So we were both wondering about spending the $155 to get a fully customized Griptilian. I didn't want to spend that much so I purchased this model on Amazon. If you customize a knife at benchmade.com you can choose different types of steel. This model on amazon has the cheapest option of steel. I ordered the clean blade no serrations mainly because in the past serrations have gotten in the way and while they have some use the saw on my leatherman does the job even better. Out of the box this knife is sharp enough to shave with. There is no blade play at all and the blade is still perfectly centered between the handles after two weeks of heavy use. The axis lock is one of the strongest locking systems I have come across. Ive had my fare share of liner locks fail on me and this does not seem it will ever break. While the handles seem flimsy and plastic they are actually very high strength and if i understand correctly should be very heat resistive and not very electrically conductive. The pocket clip is reversible which for my friend (who also ordered the knife but with a sheepsfoot blade) who is left handed. The liner on this knife is only partial, it goes down the back of the handle in order to attach the screws but does not line the entire inside of the knife. The grips on the handle of the knife are surprisingly comfortable and provide the greatest grip for your thumb. This knife does come with a lanyard hole I will be making a little paracord grip to pull it out of my cargo shorts pocket easier. The knife sits low in the pocket which is good because it doesn't attract too much attention. This is by far one of the best knifes and Im 100 percent sure I will be carrying this for a long time.

Almost Perfect..... Still one of the best folding knives!
I bought this knife and have been using it for almost two years (bought it since January 2012 when the price is still around $75-80) I carry it everyday for... maybe 8-10 months I guess. And I really like it. I would give it a 8.5 out of 10. Pros: - Benchmade Axis lock - Very strong lock. also contributes to easy and smooth one- handed opening. (no need to flick your wrist to open the knife fast!). Also, closing the knife one-handed is easy, with a little bit of practice. - 154 cm steel- hold its edge for very long time. Not very likely to chip. I drop it on a hard surface from about 2 feet and the tip hit the floor. It bend a little bit, but didn't break. and it is not very hard to resharpen -Pocket clip - Just perfect! - Strength - Blade, locking mechanism, and handle. Very strong and reliable Cons: - Price - back then, for $75 this knife offer an amazing value. However, Paying $95 for a satin blade Griptillian is just too much. For the price you will pay for this knife, I would suggest that you look into Spyderco Manix 2 (overall better knife which cost less that the Benchmade). Spyderco Delica/ Endura are also comparable to this knife in term of quality, but will only cost you $60-75. You can also save $20 more and get Spyderco Paramilitary 2, a way better knife - Plastic handle- It is very strong, but I just hate the cheap feeling it offers.... (who knows, you might like it !!) Overall: It is definitely a good knife and I can see why it is one of the best selling knives by Benchmade. If I do not own this knife, will I buy it? Umm.. Maybe. Again, I would rather buy Spyderco Manix and PM2 though

Perfect Knife
Just received my knife; I purchased it to replace one that I lost. Feels great in the hand and it's extremely sharp out of the box. Hoping to get many years of use out of it. This is absolutely my favorite out of all the knives that I own.

My EDC, and hands down my favorite knife.
If you're considering getting this knife, allow me to sway you in the right direction. Get it. You can continue to read my review, but it could possibly be slowing down how fast the knife is delivered to you. I have a lot of folding blades, and quite a few fixed blades. All of them serve different functions, some combat, others utility. I can say one thing about all of them though, none EDC as nice as this one. This knife is the perfect size and weight. The handle is made out of a high quality polypropylene that will take a beating almost just as well as the blade. As for the blade, its excellent steel means it keeps an edge for a long time, and with proper care and maintenance this knife should last you a very long time. What I love most about this knife though is that it does not have assisted opening, but it flips open just as fast as one if not faster with the flick of the thumb stud. The axis the knife is on must be top notch because the knife requires a small amount of force to open it, meaning unless something else in your pocket along with the knife somehow opens it, this knife does not come open in your pocket. That is a good thing because it does carry tip up. With that flick of the thumb stud though this thing swoops open lightning quick and locks right into place. If being able to close a knife with one hand is important to you, this knife closes just as fast as it opens with one hand. Just pull down the lock with your thumb and index finger, give it a shake in the right direction and the knife swings down and closes. Let go of the lock as you do it and the knife will stay closed and not bounce back open. Absolutely a great buy.

Its a Benchmade - My Third
The quality of the craftsmanship is why I get these. I would prefer AUS-8 Steel, bucause it holds a good edge for almost all field work, but is easily sharpened. I need a Diamond Flat stone (Work Sharp Guided Field Sharpener) to sharpen these S30V knife blades. It's ok, since they remain sharp a really long time. . . Just to note, I've had other really good knifes wee great until they had a few months of field work, then screws, bolts, hinges, etc started to wear or break. Hasn't happened to my 3 benchmade knifes yet!
