No instructions needed. has a nice alarm, starts slow and builds to a constant sound after a few seconds. Easy to hear, not too loud. Night light can be on or off, and if on does not illuminate the room and keep you awake at night, but is easy to see when you look at the clock. time characters are large and easy to see. Military time works great.
