Best ice cream scoop/spade I've owned
Man, I hate buying new ice cream scoops almost as much as I hate buying new can openers. Every time I buy a new one, I hope it will finally fulfill the need to get ice cream out of the container easier than a sturdy spoon, without damaging the scoop, without getting ice cream all over my hand or destroying the container from all the counter pressure you're having to put on it during the extraction, and finally that I'll be able to wash it easily and without somehow finding out later that it's either rusting somewhere or otherwise degrading over time. This scoop/spade is the FIRST one that I've used that I am immediately confident it will stand the test of time. I've used it maybe a dozen times so far and it is, without a doubt, the best scoop I've used anywhere. It works so well, that even if it somehow degraded or broke (which I am confident it will not) I would still probably buy it again. Heck, I'll eventually probably buy a second one just for the dish rotation and for fear that if someone misplaces my only one, I'll have to go back to using one of the 6 other scoops I have that do not work a fraction as well as this one.

The Perfect Scoop!
This is a great ice cream scoop! It’s heavy and the blade is perfect for digging into frozen treats.

Great Cutting Edge Makes It Easy to Serve Ice Cream Again!!!
Can an ice cream scoop be beautiful? Yes, yes it can. I have this in the stainless steel version, and it looks even better in person. I've always had trouble using an ice cream scoop, but this one really cuts the edge of the ice cream and makes it so easy to do. Even my mom, who broke her wrist and no longer has the same strength in her hand, can use this ice cream scoop with ease. Great product! Wish I'd discovered this 10 years ago!

We are very very happy with this ice cream scoop!!!
I am going to rave about this ice cream scoop!!!! My husband said it is the best thing ever since sliced bread. It has good weight, durable, sturdy, and easy to scoop ice cream and clean. Holy Cow - what more could you ask for... AND it is made in the USA! It wins the Gold Medal of ice cream Olympics.

but not sharp) so that the scoop slices easily into very hard high-fat ice cream
The flat side of the Rada scoop has a tapered edge (like a knife, but not sharp) so that the scoop slices easily into very hard high-fat ice cream. I've also owned an OXO and the Zyliss 71372, and the Rada is easier on the wrists. The aluminum surface on the Oxo and Zyliss became pitted when the ice cream was not immediately washed off the scoop, and they didn't easily slice into the ice cream because the edge of the scoop was not tapered, but rather rounded and too thick to easily push into the ice cream. The Rada is stainless steel and the steel holds up better. One caveat, this shape easily gets chunks of ice cream out of the container, but it doesn't create perfect half-globes--you get pieces or chunks unless you practice to make a globe rather than a dome shape. If the shape matters to you, this may not be the one you want. If you want to easily get ice cream out of the container without destroying the container or hurting your wrists, this is a good choice.

Works well but doesn't make round balls
I think it is made well and it is dishwasher safe. But, it doesn't make ice cream balls for cones.

A first class ice cream server - spade not scoop - made in the U.S.A.
I have used this ice cream serving utensil for a couple of weeks and run it through the dishwasher without problems. As another reviewer already said, it is more of an ice cream spade than a scoop. It won't give you nice round scoops. But if you can live with that fact, it stands up to very hard ice cream. My freezer temperature is hard to control without allowing the refrigerator to get too warm so I allow the freezer to get to minus 10 degrees or lower. Since the ice cream gets really hard, I put a lot of pressure on this utensil when serving it and it takes it without a problem. There is also no sign that the dishwasher detergent or hot water is doing any damage to the metal portion or the handle. I do turn off the heated drying cycle on the dishwasher but I have always done that to save electricity and avoid damage to other utensils. Also, it took me a while to find an ice cream spade that was made in the U.S.A. but it was worth it. Lots of times when you buy kitchen items made in China or other questionable locations, the metal surface will deteriorate after a few times in the dishwasher and you don't have any idea if you are being exposed to unsafe materials. I highly recommend this item!

Awesome scoop ! Does not make perfect balls of ice cream but I don’t care. It feels sturdy and looks like it will last a lifetime.
