This is perfect for a large family and all their internet needs. I was able to directly plug in all the tvs and video game systems so there can be a faster connection compared to WiFi speeds. Bought this as a drop in replacement for an earlier model. Gave me more control over my network. Easy to install, durable and sitting on the wire rack in my office it runs cool. Normally, I wouldn't spend to replace the older switch but this added additional layers of functionality without requiring major infrastructure changes. Good value for the money.

1. This review is for the TL-SG116E model (since Amazon groups multiple models in reviews). 2. This model appears to be a clone of the (no longer available new) NetGear GS116Ev2 product, but it is not. It's similar in functionality, & nearly identical in appearance. However, the interface is different, & better in my opinion as it more easily allows viewing & changing of the entire VLAN configuration. Adding a new VLAN is particularly easy. 3. However, it is VERY easy to create a configuration that cannot survive a reboot. Unlike the NetGear product, you can create a port configuration where the port PVID does not match any untagged VLAN for that port (that's probably not a good idea). So, before saving any configuration to your PC, power-cycle the unit first! 4. UPDATED: Another review stated that you can't remove the management VLAN (#1) from the configuration (like you can in the NetGear product). I thought the reviewer had to be wrong, but he was not. You must have one port that has includes VLAN #1 untagged. It can share that port with another untagged VLAN, & does not need to be the PVID of that port. That's a reasonable requirement & does not detract from the desired security of not being able to access the management interface from other user-accessible ports.

I had TP Link routers before , but there's not much you can screw up with a switch. Works good.

This is one of the best switches in the market for home use. It is plug and play and have not have an issue with it. Compare to other switches out there with same amount of ports this is one of the cheapest ones but don’t let that fool you. Its performance is reliable and I plan on continuing to use it for many more years to come. Great product, well made and would absolutely recommend!

Performance meets expectations, backplane performs to spec, no issues—device is exactly as advertised. Bought this to upgrade from my 8 port, unmanaged switch. This new one serves its purpose well, is truly plug & play, in a high quality housing and cane with everything required to get set up quickly. Same great quality I always expect from TP Link.
