Review: Great dust filtering included, quiet, used it for a media server build - The stand-out thing on this model is the dust filtering. I've bought several other brands, some of which force you to pay extra to buy an accessory dust filter kit, none of which are as fine in terms of particle filtering or fit as well or clean as easily as the front filter on this unit. The front dust filter is just about the finest without being incredibly restrictive of air-flow that one can get and in my dusty home that's pretty useful. It also simply slides out and can be rinsed or wiped down. The sound dampening is also pretty good, the isolation of hard drive noises from multiple spinning disk magnetic drives, including enterprise drives is also quite good, probably not as good as be-quiet with their specialized isolation caddies but it's a lot cheaper. The hard drive caddies themselves are plastic, not too impressively built, kind of cheap but they work, don't transfer vibrations that badly so I can't complain that much, certainly not for anything in the sub $150 range as far as cases go. Airflow is good, for a media server build the fact that the hard drives are located in the front directly in the path of airflow is great because I want to keep them above all else cool so they last longer. It is a rather simple design, most PC's I've built for gaming have either top and/or bottom fan mounting options but this is a simple straight-through. The default fans after nearly a year of constant use aren't suffering any whine or annoying noises, if they do fail I'll just replace them with some Noctuas. The front 3 fans at least aren't PWM (back one is), so you can't control them with software or the motherboard with temperature targets, instead they're controlled with a switch on top which has high, low, and off settings. On high they're noticeable in quiet scenes when a movie is playing on my nearby TV but on low they're not really noticeable and wouldn't bother most people trying to sleep in the same room as them as long as you're at least 8 feet away. Lack of PWM on default case fans on a budget case is to be expected, par for the course. If you want that buy aftermarket. Noise level could probably be lowered a bit from these or I could increase the air movement without raising noise level if I replaced them with Noctuas but once again the noise isn't annoying on low with no other sounds around. If I wanted to really run them at full speed all the time I'd definitely replace for the sake of my movie-watching experience them but a lot of people could probably tolerate even that. Cable-management is fine, there's plenty of room for routing things neatly and cleanly and building was not a struggle. One potential annoyance for some people may be the glowing white lights around the USB ports at the top of the case. I could certainly do without it but it's not so annoying that I've sought to try and disable it, suppose one could take nail polish or similar and carefully paint over the lights with it. The hard drive access light at the top blinks like crazy for a media server build like mine so I ended up covering it up with a piece of black electrical tape. Not sure why those types of lights still exist or can't at least be disabled in UEFI/BIOS.
Review: Budget Fractal Design R5, in a good way - My current PC case is a fractal design r5 and i bought this to use as a unRAID server build. This case is like if you described a fractal design r5 to your buddy on the phone and they came up with a pretty good rendition of it themselves. I missed a few of the r5 niceties like captive screws and the latch for the side panel and the modu-vent system of the fractal design series cases, but for the price compared to the fractal cases this thing holds up. Really solid, honestly might have even thicker noise reduction padding on the side panels than the r5. HDD mounting is pretty nice tool-less for my x5 4TB 3.5in drives but is a little less premium feeling being plastic compared to the fractal case. The case coming with 4 fans is a huge plus, all are very quiet but move a good amount of air for their size at the lowest setting. The filters front and bottom are also reminiscent of the r5 and its just as good here. Cable management up the back is a little thin but the inclusion of the PSU shroud makes it much easier to hide the mess of the non modular PSU i bought. Velcro straps included were a big plus but I would like to see more little tabs and things to add more cable management zip ties\velcro to for the fan controller cables which were a little too short for proper cable management, even after pulling it all apart to get it to lay down as neatly as possible. Included 3 way fan control switch on the front panel is a nice touch ala fractal again and isn't obscured by the swinging front door either. Overall great case, is basically a fractal design r5 for what an r5 went for pre covid!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does the front door come off?**
A: yes it comes off, video reviews I seen it has hinges with screws on each

**Q: can i change drive bays so drives comes out thru front door?**
A: Only if you give up the ODD and get a 5.25 to 3.5" or 2.5" hot swap bay, they do make them

**Q: As shown in picture, do the 3.5" HDD brackets come with the case?**
A: Yes, 2 brackets are included for mounting drives on the metal surface by the PCI slots and motherboard.

**Q: Can you install a 2x120mm AIO cooler in the front if you use all the 3.5" drive bays?**
A: I have the P5 not the P101, but from the listed specs: "Ready for radiators up to 360 mm in the front and 140 mm in the rear" it would seem a 240mm radiator is specifically supported. I mounted the Corsair H100i 240mm cooler in the front of my P5 and it fits perfectly.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Probably the best case I ever bought
*by P***H on January 3, 2023*

Looking for a computer case for what will become a media server for my movie files. This one was reviewed somewhere and actually had the best price and features. It has 8 drive bays which is what I was looking for. The build quality is really great. Very much appreciate the detail of engineering and construction. The only quibbles I have is that the directions could have more detail: for the life of me I could not figure out how to take the drive bays out (I don't mean the plastic holders, but the metal case for each drive). I had to take all of them out to figure out that it is possible to take them out individually. BTW, had to take them out to be able to put the USB front plugs cable in. Everything else is very well laid out and easy to set up. And yes, it is very quiet in my home theater.
