Made a noticeable difference in lateral movement in two of my pergolas, both identical 10x10x10 and both without knee braces (1/3 of the 6x posts buried and encased in concrete). After completing one of them I was able to compare side-by-side on whether or not it made a difference when I pushed on the corner of each pergola. I'm in an area prone to hurricanes so the hurricane ties and a few nails didn't seem like they would be enough. One thing for the installer to note, it says no predrill required on the box, but it definitely needs pre-drilling. They come with lag screws that are not self tapping and they have thick shafts which are bound to split your box store 2x board.

Perfect item for my job
I was building a pergola and struggling with the price of the brackets available from my local Home Improvement store so was going to just go without and use more screws/bolts. The power of the internet must have flagged I had been searching for brackets on-line as a more cost effective option. While ordering some other things on Amazon, these rafter clips popped up!! They are the perfect items for my job and price is more then 3 times cheaper then what I had been considering at the box stores!! They install easily, look awesome, and are stronger then they look!

Really nice powder coat
These work great for securing the rafters. They are not a complete replacement for good corbels to reduce movement, but they definitely provide a level of structural security.

Good looking bracket for additional stability
Used item to add additional strength and decorative appeal to cross members on an ornamental pergola. The contractor had only used 90 degree L brackets to attach the cross members to the underside of the joist providing minimal lateral stability so I added these. The black iron looks also adds a bit more visual appeal. While a bit hard to tell from the picture, this only sits against 1 side of cross member and support joist.
